Why is everyone wearing green?

Hello everyone,

This week at Hario everything has turned a wonderful shade of green! Why are there green clovers, called “shamrocks”, and little green men, called “leprechauns”, all over Hario? That’s because Saint Patrick’s Day is on the way! This Friday, March 17th, is a national holiday in Ireland. It’s a day celebrating St. Patrick, who is the patron saint of Ireland. This means that it’s a day when we celebrate Irish culture by holding street parades, wearing green and partying. Saint Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland about 1,500 years ago. He used a shamrock to explain the meaning of God to Irish people. The meaning of the day isn’t very religious anymore, and people mainly celebrate the holiday by going out to the parades. Green is a lucky color to wear on this day, and you are supposed to pinch anyone who isn’t wearing something green. There are St. Patrick’s Day parades all over the world, in almost every big city. The world’s biggest is in New York city, which has up to 150,000 participants and 2,000,000 spectators. There is a big parade in Harajuku, Tokyo also. It took place yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn’t go, but I went a few years ago and I’m looking forward to the next one. I wonder if any of our students here at Hario will wear green this week? It’s a colorful week of celebrations, because tomorrow is “white day”. Remember boys, get some chocolate for the girls this week! So, with white day tomorrow and green day on Friday, all we need is an orange day to complete Ireland’s flag. Have a Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

それはもちろん、セントパトリックスデイが近いからです

3月17日の金曜日がセントパトリックスデイでして、アイルランドでは祝日なんです！

彼はアイルランドの守り神で、ストリートパレードをしたり、緑色の服を着て楽しみながら、アイルランド文化を祝う祝日になっています。

彼はおよそ1500年前にアイルランドにキリスト教を広めた人物です
