Hello everyone,

Did you get to see any more cherry blossom last weekend. It’s quite windy today, so there mightn’t be any left by the end of this week. We celebrated two birthdays here at Hario over the past week. Last Thursday, the 11th, was Sachiyo’s birthday, followed by my birthday on Sunday, the 14th. There are quite a few April birthdays in my family. My wife’s is April 5th, my mother is 18th, my wife’s sister is 15th, and my great-grandfather, William, had the same birthday as me! That’s why my middle name is William. In addition, I noticed that four of our students at Hario share a birthday with me. Of course, some of our students share birthdays, but it’s very rare for 5 of us, so I think it’s the most common birthday in Hario.

Here at Hario, our students are busy writing their speeches, as the deadline draws near. They have until next week to hand in a speech, and I’m looking forward to reading them. They can be about anything at all, so I want to see speeches that make us laugh, cry, or both. It’s always interesting to see the world from the perspective of our young students. We get a glimpse of our student’s life outside of the classroom. Best of luck to all of you!

先週末は桜を楽しむことができましたか？今日は風が強く、週末まで桜が残っているかどうかは分かりませんね。先週、私たちは学校で2人の誕生日をお祝いしました。木曜日の11日はSachiyoの誕生日で、続いて14日の日曜日は私の誕生日でした。私の家族には4月生まれが多く、妻は5日、母は18日、妻の妹は15日、そして曾祖父も私と同じ誕生日だったんです。そのため、私のミドルネームはウィリアムと名付けられました。さらに、HARIOの生徒に4人も私と同じ誕生日であることが分かりました。同じ誕生日の生徒さんがいるのは珍しく、HARIOでは最も多い誕生日かもしれませんね

ところで、HARIOでは、締め切りが迫る中、学生たちはスピーチの執筆に忙しくしているはず？？ですね。

みな、来週までにスピーチを提出する必要があり、私はそれを読むのを楽しみにしています。笑いを誘うものでも、涙を誘うものでも、あるいはその両方でも、何でもいいので、素晴らしいスピーチを期待しています。若い学生たちの視点から世界を見るのは、いつも新鮮で興味深いものです。教室の外での彼らの生活を垣間見ることができるのは、教師にとって貴重な経験です。皆さん、がんばって書いてくださいね
