Hello everyone,

 I hope you’re having a good week. I’d like to wish my mother, ‘Happy Birthday’, for today. She’s a regular reader of this blog. The Eiken paper tests took place last weekend. Most students did very well and passed their grade. We don’t know how to score the new writing sections yet so we await the official scores on those. Well done if you passed and nevermind if you didn’t. You can review the test after, see where your weak points are and try again the next time. Persistence pays of in the end.

 

みなさん、こんにちは。

充実した一週間をお過ごしのことと思います。今日は母に「誕生日おめでとう」と伝えたいと思います。母はこのブログを欠かさず読んでくれています。先週末は英検でした。ほとんどの生徒が好成績で合格しました。新しく加わった英作文についてはまだどのように採点されるかわかりませんので、公式の発表を待ちたいと思います。合格者はよく頑張りましたね。そうでなかった人はがっかりしないで。後でテストを見直し、弱点はどこかを見て、次の試験でがんばりましょう。継続は力なりです。

 

 Coming up in the next few weeks we will start having parents’ days. We will welcome parents into the classroom to show them what and how we teach and also to show the progress the students have made since the last open class. Class level information is in the newsletter and we are looking forward to that. I’ve started recording some of the speeches for the upcoming speech homework. That is also coming soon. Over the summer holidays we will have special grammar and conversation classes during the day. There’s more information in the newsletter again so please have a look.

 

　今月下旬から授業参観日をスタートします。私達がどのように教えているのか、また前回の授業参観のときより成長した生徒たちの姿をごらんいただけます。皆さんのご参加をお待ちしております。

さて、私たちはスピーチホームワークの録音に取り掛かっています。間もなく出来上がります。７月第三週から開始を予定しています。

夏休み期間中、文法と英会話の夏期講習を実施します。詳しくはニュースレターでお知らせしますので、ご一読ください。

 

 Tomorrow there is a general election in my home country, the UK. I’ve arranged a proxy vote, that means my father can fill in my vote on my behalf. The campaign has been marked by two terrorist attacks in Manchester and London. Those events are tragedies but the UK people are resilient and carrying on as normal as much as possible. Prime Minister May did have a big lead in opinion polls but that lead has shrunk a lot and now the Labour Party, led by Jeremy Corbyn, is close behind. UK elections are notoriously hard to predict so it’s impossible to know the final result. We will find out on Friday morning, which happens to be my birthday.

　明日、わたしの母国、イギリスでは総選挙が行われます。私は委任選挙の手配をしました。つまり、父が私に代わって用紙を記入し投票するのです。今回の選挙活動はマンチェスターとロンドンで二人のテロリストの攻撃に見舞われました。事件は悲劇ですが、イギリス国民はこのような圧力に負けず、可能な限り平常通りに選挙を遂行しています。世論調査ではメイ首相の大きなリードが伝えられていましたが、

ジェレミー・コービン氏率いる労働党がその差を大きく縮めてきています。イギリスの選挙は予測しがたいことで有名で、結果は最後までわかりません。金曜日の朝に、この日はたまたま私の誕生日ですが、結果がわかることでしょう。
