Fun in Golden Week たのしいゴールデンウィーク

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re well rested after Golden Week and enjoyed the holiday. I had a great week! I visited some of my Irish friends in Tokyo. They were visiting Japan for a week during the vacation. We explored some of the parks around Tokyo such as Yoyogi and Shinjuku. We found some great shopping areas around Shibuya and Harajuku. We were really impressed with how fashionable people are in Tokyo. I noticed that fashion is alot more prevalent there compared to smaller cities like Fuji. Tokyo’s population is a lot younger than here because many young people are attracted to the busy life of a big city. I know several people who have moved from Fuji to larger cities despite the high living costs of places like Tokyo. Everything is more expensive in the big city!

ゴールデンウィークはいかがでしたか。エンジョイできましたか

私は非常に有意義なゴールデンウィークを過ごしました。

アイルランドから旅行できた友人たちと東京へいきました。

彼らは一週間日本に滞在し、代々木や新宿探検、渋谷や原宿でショッピングを彼らと楽しみました。東京はオシャレな人が多くて驚きました。東京は富士市よりも若い人が多いのは、東京のようなにぎやかな街を彼らが好むからでしょうね。東京はまた物価も高いです。

My friends and I came back to Fuji and had a barbecue last Friday. It was great to introduce them to my family here and they met my daughter for the first time. My friends were really impressed with Japan, and they said that the best thing was the people here. They experienced the “omotenashi”culture of hospitality in Japan. Everyone was so helpful to them and did their best to speak English when they could. I’m glad that they can see why I enjoy living here so much.

Hario Camp 2017 is just around the corner! This Saturday we’re heading out for the big adventure. I can’t wait to tell you all about it next week. Stay tuned!

友人と私は富士市に戻ってきて、金曜日には私の家でバーベキューをしました。彼らを私の義理の両親や娘に紹介することができました。

友人たちは日本での滞在に色んな衝撃をうけたようです。彼らがいうには、一番おどろいたのは「日本の人々」だそうです。日本の「おもてなし」文化を経験したからです。日本人はとても親切で、我々の英語にできるだけこたえようと必死になってくれます。私がなぜ日本の生活を楽しんでいるか、彼らも理解ができたと思います。
