It’s the festive season! Can you believe it’s already December? It’s time to celebrate Christmas and get ready for the new year. As usual, the year seemed to fly by, and we had a great one this year. Hario’s Christmas decorations are up. How many Christmas trees can you find in here? Do you put up a Christmas tree at home, and if so, when? There isn’t a clearly defined day to put up your decorations, but most people do it at the beginning of December. My family put up our tree a few weeks ago in mid-November. Businesses, however, take things way too far. They have Christmas decorations, lights and trees up the day after Halloween! I think they would put them up earlier if they had the chance. This is to get people shopping as soon as possible in the busy season. Christmas shopping is a big thing back home, and shops all over the world become packed with people. When I worked in a store as a student in Ireland, there were queues of people all across the store.

These days with covid, people have to wait outside first, and they are let in once other people have left. I went to Lala Port recently, and it was very full, so the “Christmas rush” has spread to Japan too. Children here usually get “otoshidama” or New Year’s money as a gift, but many of them get Christmas presents too. When I was young it was my favorite time of the year. I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep the night before Christmas. So let’s enjoy the holiday season. Our Christmas week at Hario starts next week. Have fun!

みなさん、こんにちは!

クリスマスシーズンですね。

 

もう12月だなんて、信じられますか？

クリスマスを祝い、新年を迎える準備をする時期です。

例年通り、今年もあっという間に1年が過ぎました。ハリオでもクリスマスの飾りつけをしましたよ

ハリオにいくつのクリスマスツリーがあるか、数えてみてくださいね

 

皆さんはご自宅にクリスマスツリーを飾りますか？飾るとしたら、いつですか？飾りをつける日は明確に決まっているわけではありませんが、12月初旬にする人が多いようですよ。

 

我が家では、11月中旬にツリーを飾りました

ですが、お店などは、早くから飾りつけをしますね。ハロウィンの翌日には、クリスマスの飾り付けやライト、ツリーを飾っているところもありました　もしできることならば、もっと早くから飾りたい思っているお店も多いんではないでしょうかね。

これは、繁忙期に消費者にたくさん買い物をさせるためなんです。クリスマス商戦はアイルランドでも大盛り上がりですが、世界中でにぎわいます。学生時代にお店で働いていたときも、この時期はお店のあちこちに人の列が出来ていたことを覚えています。

 

今のコロナ事情では、人々は外で待たされ、入れ替わりで入店できる感じですかね？

最近ララポートに行ったのですが、とっても混んでいました。日本にも「クリスマスラッシュ」が広がったんだなぁと思いました。日本の子どもたちはたいてい「おとし玉」をもらいますが、クリスマスプレゼントももらえる子供も最近は多くなりましたね

　私が小さい頃は、クリスマスがとっても楽しみでした。クリスマスイブには眠れなかったのを今でも覚えています。

さあ皆さん、今年も年末年始を楽しみましょう！
