Happy birthday!

Hello everyone,

Let’s celebrate! We had not one, but two birthdays at Hario this week. On September 1st, Hario English School turned four years old. It was also Yui’s birthday yesterday, September 4th. We celebrated Yui’s birthday with a delicious cheese roll-cake. It was so big that we could only eat about half of it! We also celebrated Hario’s 4th birthday with dinner last Saturday. We had delicious yaki-niku. Even though beef is popular in Ireland, there are no yaki-niku restaurants. Beef in Ireland is primarily used in steaks and hamburgers. Come to think of it, we don’t have hamburg restaurants in Ireland either! So when I’m back home I can’t have grilled yaki-niku or hamburg frying on a hot plate, unless I do it myself. I think people in Ireland want all of the cooking done by trained chefs, so they don’t see the appeal of frying meat by themselves. Home barbeques are popular, however, during our short summer.

みなさん、こんにちは。今週は、HARIOで２つの誕生日がありました。一つは、９月１日にHARIOイングリッシュスクール、４才（４周年）の誕生日、そして９月４日（昨日）のゆいの誕生日です。

昨日は、ゆいの誕生日をおいしいチーズロールケーキで祝いました。とても大きいロールケーキ（↓写真）だったので半分しか食べられませんでした。

HARIOの誕生日では、土曜日に皆で焼肉パーティをしました。アイルランドでお肉はポピュラーな食べ物ですが、焼肉レストランはありません。たいてい、ステーキ屋かハンバ―ガーレストランです。ハンバーグレストランはありません。ですから、アイルランドに帰ると、焼肉やハンバーグは自分で作らない限り食べるチャンスがありません。

多分、アイルランド人は、外食ではきちんとトレーニングされたシェフが作った食事を好むので、自分たちで焼く外食料理にはあまり興味がないのです。でも夏の間、家でバーベキューをすることはポピュラーです。

A lot has happened in these past four years. Hario has gone from strength to strength thanks to the dedication of our students who work hard at all of our events. A good example of this is the speech contest, which always impresses our guests. We’ve grown, in both student numbers and school size, now that we’re on the third floor. It’s been a wonderful four years for us, and I look forward to see what the future will bring to our school.

HARIOの４周年に関していうと、たくさんの事がありました。生徒や保護者の皆様のおかげで、HARIOは大きく成長しました。成長には、生徒の皆さん全体のレベルアップもありますし、生徒数の大幅なアップもあります。今年からは３階にも教室を拡張しました。すばらしい４年間に感謝するとともに、今後のHARIOも楽しみにしています。
