Hello everyone,

I hope you had a good rest last Thursday for the emperor’s birthday. We had a family dinner to celebrate, because the very next day was my father-in-law’s birthday. In only two days it will be March, and we can say, “Spring has sprung”. There are many things I look forward to in spring every year. First and foremost, it’s the warmer weather. By February, I’m getting tired of the cold weather. It’s nice to warm up outside, and we can enjoy warm days out, at least until it gets too hot in summer! As it’s getting closer to summer, the days are getting longer. The “vernal equinox” marks the day halfway between the longest and shortest days of the year. It falls on March 21st, when we should have 12 hours or day and night. It’s nice to have longer daylight hours. We also celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day in March. Pre-covid, there was a great “I love Ireland” festival in Yoyogi Park, Tokyo every year. There was a big parade in Harajuku, with green everywhere. Since the pandemic, parades and festivals have been put on hold, but this year it is coming back! I wonder if I’ll go? Another thing I like about spring is the cherry blossom. The pink trees are dotted all over the country, and I enjoy walking around the parks in Fuji under the falling blossoms. Spring is also fantastic if you like chocolate. If you’re a girl you might get some on White Day. But if you’re a boy, fret not, because easter is also on the way. In easter everyone eats big chocolate eggs. My parents try to send some over every year. So, there is a lot to look forward to in spring, now that winter is (almost) over. The only thing I don’t recommend in spring is having hay-fever. A lot of pollen gets into the air around this time, so take care if you suffer from it. Roll on spring!

みなさん、こんにちは！アランです

 

先週の木曜日は天皇誕生日で休みでしたが、みなさんしっかりとお休みになれましたか？？

私のところはその次の日が義理のお父さんの誕生日だったので、みんなでおいしい夕ご飯を食べました

 

あと2日で3月になりますね！！私たちはよく、”Spring has sprung（春が来た）”という風に言います。

 

毎年春にはたくさん楽しみにしていることがあります

一番の楽しみは、温かい気候になる！ということです。

2月頃からもう既に、この肌寒い気温に飽き飽きしていたところだったんですよね～。

 

外は徐々に温かくなりますし、真夏のとてつもなく暑い日になるまでは当分の間、

外で温かい気候を楽しむことができますね

 

夏が近づくにつれて、昼間の時間も長くなっていきますね

春分の日は一年の中でちょうど昼と夜の長さが等しい日です。（知っていましたか？）

それが3月21日に訪れます！！ちょうど12時間の昼と夜の日です。夜が12時間あるのはいいですよね

 

そして3月には、『セントパトリックデー』もありますね

コロナ前は東京の代々木公園でアイルランド好き達によるイベントが開催されていて、

そこら中一面が緑一色になって大きなパレードが原宿で催されていました

 

コロナのせいで長い間そのお祭りも延期になっていましたが、なんと今年から再開されるとのことです！

私も参加するべきでしょうか？？

 

そしてもう一つの春の醍醐味と言えば　🌸桜🌸です！！

ピンクの木々が日本中を覆いつくします

 

桜が散りゆく中の公園でお花見をしたり散歩したりするのがとても大好きです

 

またチョコレート好きのあなたにとっては春って最高ですよね。ホワイトデーがありますね！

女の子たちにとってはチョコをもらえる素敵な日ですね。

 

男の子たちも心配しないでください！

イースターが近いので卵の大きさのチョコレートがGetできますよ

私の両親もいつも送ってくれます。

 

さぁ冬は終わります！楽しみですね！
