Hello everyone,

 How are you doing? Last Saturday, we had a rehearsal for the speech contest song and dance that our youngest students will perform. They did really well. I hope they can be just as good and loud on the stage next week. We have also been giving coaching sessions to students taking part in the speech contest. I coached some of Alan’s students so I got to hear some new speeches. The competition is tough and everyone is trying really hard. I’m excited for next week. The Eiken speaking tests were last weekend. I hope you did well. I know everyone put in a lot practice. Good luck. Let me also tell you about the Christmas party. It will be on Sunday the 17th of December and tickets are available now. Tickets are sellling fast so please book early to avoid disappointment as places are limited. It will be the usual fun mix of songs, games, craft activities, presents and, of course, a visit from Santa Claus.

 You may have noticed some new faces at Hario recently. Our student numbers have grown so we have hired more staff. On Mondays, Nao is working. She will start full time next year teaching grammar classes as well as doing office and reception work. Last Friday, Hiromi started too. She will mainly be working in the reception. Welcome to both of them. I hope you enjoy your Hario career. Please say hello to them if you meet them. Also, next week, a new foreign teacher is starting. His name is Mike and he is from the USA, though he has lived in the UK and Japan too for long periods. You may have read in a letter we sent out last week that I will be leaving Hario at the end of December. Mike is one of two new native English teachers we have hired as I leave. I hope you give him a nice welcome and you enjoy getting to know him. Since the letter went out announcing that I am leaving, many students and parents have spoken to me and said many kind words. Thank you. I’m very touched to hear them. But I’m not going anywhere just yet. I still have 6 more weeks working here.

みなさん、こんにちは。

ご機嫌いかがですか。先週の土曜日はスピーチコンテストで行うPLS１０級、９級、幼児クラス発表のリハーサルが行われました。とてもいいリハーサルでした。来週の本番でも、彼らがリハーサルと同じぐらい素晴らしいパフォーマンスができることを願います。また、同じ日にスピーチコンテスト出場者と講師の１対１のコーチングもありました。皆さん一生懸命練習しているので、コンテストは激しい競争となるでしょう。来週の本番がとても楽しみです。日曜日には、英検の二次試験がありました。生徒達が一生懸命練習をしていたので、皆が全力を尽くせたことを願います。最後にクリスマスパーティの申込がスタートしました。今年は、１２月１７日です。チケットはすぐに売れ切れてしまいますので、お早目にお申込みください。歌やゲーム、クラフト、クリスマスのアクティビティなど内容満載です。もちろん、サンタさんも遊びにきてくれますよ。

 

最近、皆さんは新しい日本人スタッフをHARIOで見かけませんでしたか？まず一人目のナオは、来年春からの新卒採用で、今は月曜日のみ来て研修を受けています。二人目はヒロミで、彼女は主に受付を担当することになっています。先週の金曜日からHARIOスタッフとなりました。ナオ、ヒロミ、HARIOへようこそ。そして来週からは、外国人スタッフが仲間入りします。名前は、マイクでアメリカ出身の講師です。彼は日本やイギリスに長い間住んでいた経験があります。先週配布されましたお便りをみた皆様はもうご存知だと思いますが、私は今年いっぱいでHARIOを退職することになりました。マイクが新しく採用となった二人の外国人講師の一人で、私が去った後のクラスは彼が引き継ぎます。皆さんが彼を暖かく迎えてくれると嬉しいです。私の退職のあいさつ文が皆さんに渡ってから、たくさんの生徒や保護者の皆さんから暖かい言葉をいただきました。とても心にしみました。でもまだ６週間はHARIOにはいますので。最後まで宜しくお願いします。
