Hello everyone,

Have you been following the qualifying games for the World Cup next year? Japan has already qualified, but in Europe it is being decided this week with play-off matches. The second place teams from the group stages must play against each other in two games (home and away), and the winner goes through to the World Cup. There was a big shock last night as Italy lost the play-off against Sweden. It is the first time Italy hasn’t qualified for the World Cup since 1958. They have always been a strong side and are expected to qualify, but they won’t be there next year. I hope Ireland has better luck tomorrow morning. Ireland face Denmark in the play-offs, and the first leg in Copenhagen finished 0-0 last Sunday. They play the final leg tomorrow in Dublin at 4:45A.M. Japan time. That’s too early for me so I think I’ll miss the game live, but I’ll be sure to check the highlights when I wake up in the morning. Come on you boys in green! That’s the chant we shout to cheer on the Irish team. In other news for Irish sport, the next rugby World Cup takes place here in Japan in 2019. They have announced which stadium each match will be played in. Japan vs. Ireland will take place in Ecopa, Shizuoka. That’s the very same stadium where I saw them play last June! I hope to be there for the World Cup game too.

There’s just one week to go before our Speech Contest 2017 on November 23rd. I’m very excited about the big day. It’s a great showcase for our school and shows the hard work and dedication out students have. We have lots of fun in store for everyone so come along and see the show!

みなさん、こんにちは。来年のワールドカップの予選をご覧になっていますか

日本はすでにワールドカップ出場を決めましたが、ヨーロッパでは今週のプレイオフで決定されます。

グループステージの２位のチームがそれぞれ試合をし、勝った方がワールドカップに出場できます。

先週はプレイオフでスウェーデンとイタリアが戦い、なんとイタリアが負けてしまいました。

イタリアがワールドカップ出場を逃したのは、１９５８年以来のことです。

毎回、強豪国として注目されていたイタリアが次回の輪―ルのカップは出場できません。

明日の朝は、アイルランドが出場をかけてデンマークと戦います。日本時間の朝５時です。

私にとってはちょっと朝早いですが、絶対にライブでみたいと思います。

他のスポーツニュースとしては、２０１９年にラグビーワールドカップが日本で開催されます。

そのワールドカップで行われる日本対アイルランドの会場が発表になりました。なんとエコパスタジアムです。

この間の６月に日本対アイルランドの試合が行われた、私が見に行った場所と同じ会場です。

その試合を生で見に行けたら嬉しいです。

そしてHARIOでは、スピーチコンテストまであと１週間となりました。私はとても楽しみにしています。

HARIOでも年の大イベントであり、準備に大変な時間を要します。生徒達も一生懸命練習してきました。
