I can’t believe it’s almost here already, but the Hario Christmas party is coming this weekend! Come on over to Hario on December 17th to enjoy all of the fun and games at our party. It promises to be a wonderful day full of Christmas cheer. Santa might even make an appearance at the party! If Santa Claus is coming, you might want to know exactly who he is. Of course, we all know he is a jolly, old man with white beard and a big red costume. If we want to go back to the original person where it all started, we need to go back to the 4th century, 1600 years ago! The name Santa Claus comes from “Saint Nicholas”, who was a Christian bishop in the Roman Empire, which is Turkey now. He was well-known for giving gifts to poor people. During the Middle Ages, often on the evening before his name day of 6 December, children were given gifts in his honour. There were many big changes in the Christian religion over the years, and this custom eventually moved to December 25th. Early traditions of gift giving from Church history and folklore, especially St. Nicholas, merged with the English character Father Christmas to create the mythical character known to the rest of the English-speaking world as “Santa Claus”. These days, there are a lot of modern additions to Santa’s life. For example, he lives in the North Pole where his gifts are made in a factory run by elves, who are his helpers. He has magic reindeer, who can fly and pull his sleigh all over the world. If you want to know more, there are plenty of great Santa Claus movies to watch. I also recommend the movie “Elf”, which is the story of one of his elves. It’s a hilarious comedy. It’s a Christmas tradition in Ireland for kids to go to a shopping mall and meet Santa, where you tell him what you want for Christmas. It will be a thrill to see him again. See you at the party!

もうすぐクリスマスです12月17日には、ハリオのクリスマスパーティーに遊びに来てくださいね　クリスマスムードいっぱいの素敵な一日になることをお約束します！サンタさんも登場するかもしれません　サンタクロースが来るなら、その正体を知りたいですよね～もちろん、サンタクロースが白いひげを生やし、大きな赤い衣装を着た陽気な老人であることは誰もが知っています。すべての始まりである人物にたどるのであれば、1600年前の4世紀までさかのぼる必要があります　サンタクロースという名前は、ローマ帝国（現在のトルコ）の「聖ニコラス」に由来するキリスト教司教です。彼は貧しい人々に贈り物をすることで有名だったそうです。　中世の時代には、12月6日の聖ニコラウスの名前の日の前夜に、聖ニコラウスにちなんで子供たちがプレゼントを贈る習慣がありました。長い年月の間にキリスト教に大きな変化があり、この習慣は最終的に12月25日に移ったのです。教会の歴史や民間伝承、特に聖ニコラスに由来する贈り物をする初期の伝統が、英語のキャラクターであるファーザー・クリスマスと融合し、英語圏の他の国々では「サンタクロース」として知られる神話のキャラクターが誕生しました　最近では、サンタの生活には多くの現代的な要素が付け加えられました。例えば、サンタクロースは北極に住んでおり、サンタクロースの贈り物はサンタクロースのお手伝いのエルフたちによって工場で作られています。サンタクロースは魔法のトナカイを持っていて、世界中を飛び回り、そりを引くことができる。もっと知りたければ、素晴らしいサンタクロースの映画がたくさんあります。また、サンタクロースの妖精の一人を描いた映画『エルフ』もおすすめですよ。陽気なコメディです。アイルランドでは、子供たちがショッピングモールに行ってサンタに会い、クリスマスに欲しいものを伝えるのがクリスマスの伝統です　私もサンタと再会するのは、ワクワクします。
