Hello everyone,

Hario’s Spring campaign is underway! Last week, we began free trial lessons for anyone interested in joining. I have already met some of our newest students and I can’t wait to meet the rest. You can avail of four free trial lesson between now and mid-March. At Hario, our students benefit from not only English, they also make new friends, take part in big events, learn classroom etiquette, build confidence, express their opinions, and more. So come on over to Hario and try us out!

I heard that in Ireland, a new national holiday has been created, and it starts today. The first Monday of February is called Saint Brigit’s Day, and this is the first year for to become a national holiday in Ireland. The government was looking to add one more holiday to the year. Many people are complaining about the date of this new holiday. Why is it in February when it’s so cold outside?! If they had put the holiday in July, people could make the most of the warm summer weather. Summer is short and cool in Ireland, so people need to get out in the sun while they have the chance. But it’s been decided, the new holiday is today. Saint Brigit is one of two patron Saints of Ireland. Patron Saint is a person who helped bring Christianity to a country. If you go to Hario, you might have heard of the other one, Saint Patrick. We celebrate his day next month, on March 17th. That is a very big holiday, where Irish people celebrate by wearing green and holding parades all over the world. Congratulations to Ireland on their new holiday. I wonder how people will celebrate it?

ところで、アイルランドに新しい祝日ができると聞きました。

2 月の第 1 月曜日は聖ブリジットの日と呼ばれ、アイルランドでが祝日になったのは今年が初めてです。

政府は、年にもう 1 つの祝日を追加することを検討していました。

多くの人が、この新しい祝日の日付について不満を漏らしています。

外がこんなに寒いのに、なんで2月なのに!? 

もし7月なら、暖かい夏の気候を最大限に楽しむことができるでしょう。

アイルランドの夏は短くて涼しいので、できるだけ日にあたる必要があります。

でも、もう決まってしまいました。新しい休日は２月と。

聖ブリジットは、アイルランドの 2 人の守護聖人の 1 人です。守護聖人はキリスト教を国に広めた人物です。

HARIO生の皆さんは、聖パトリックのことを聞いたことがあるかもしれません。

私たちは来月、3月17日に彼の日を祝います。それは非常に大きな祝日で、アイルランドの人々は緑色の服を着て、世界中でパレードを開催して祝います。
