ハロウィンを盛り上げてくれてありがとう！

Hello everyone,

Halloween week is over now. We had a great time and I really appreciate all of our students who wore costumes during the week. There were so many fantastic and creative costume ideas! Witches, wizards, skeletons, ghosts, superheroes, police, criminals, zombies and many more. It was a very scary and funny week! Our students said “trick or treat!”, and got some Halloween candy. I was glad that they had the chance to do this, as “trick or treating” from house to house isn’t popular in Japan. Halloween is growing in popularity here, however. I saw Shibuya on TV, and it was full of people in costumes. Maybe someday kids will go around neighbourhoods collecting candy in the future here.

Halloween only ended two days ago, but I have already seen some Christmas trees and decorations on sale in stores around Fuji. In Ireland, some stores and businesses set up their Christmas lights now. People are very divided about this idea. Some people enjoy seeing Christmas trees and lights early in November, while others can’t stand the idea of celebrating early. They think that Christmas should stay in December, and that setting up decorations early makes it a less special occasion. What do you think?

Here at Hario we have parent’s day for our classes over the next few weeks. These are special parent’s days because our students will be performing their speeches in class. Their parents and classmates will see all of the hard work they put in to their speech. We began yesterday, and it was wonderful to see how proud the parents were of their children.

今週の月曜日にハロウィンが終了しました。衣装をつけてきてくれた皆さん、ありがとうございました今年もたくさんのアイディアいっぱいの衣装を見ることができました。魔女、魔術師、がいこつ、お化け、ヒーロー、警察、悪人、ゾンビなほんとにたくさんです今年のハロウィンウィークは怖くも面白い週となりました。生徒の皆さんは”トリックオアトリート”と言ってお菓子をゲットしていましたね。日本では家から家へと”トリックオアトリート”と言って訪ねていくのはまだまだ一般的ではありませんので、皆さんがこの習慣を行う機会があって良かったと思いますしかし、徐々にハロウィンも人気になってきていますね。テレビで渋谷での様子を見ましたが、多くの人が衣装を着ていましたね。近い将来、子ども達がお菓子を求め、近所の家を訪ねていく日もやってくるかもしれないです

ハロウィンは2日前に終わりましたが、もう既にクリスマスツリーや飾りが売られているのを見ました。アイルランドのお店などではこれくらいの時期にクリスマスツリーの飾り付けをします。これには2つの意見があり、早くからクリスマスの雰囲気を楽しむことができると考える人もいれば、そんなに早くからクリスマスを楽しむなんて考えられない！と考える人もいます。

後者の人達はクリスマスは12月だけにしないと、価値が下がってしまうと思っているようですが皆さんはどう思いますか

HARIOではこれから先、数週間、授業参観が行われます。この授業参観は少し特別で、生徒の皆さんはスピーチを披露してもらいます。ご父兄の皆様もクラスメートのみなさんも、それぞれがスピーチホームワークを頑張ったと感じて頂けると思います。今日で2日目ですが、どのお父兄様もお子様の頑張りを称えていました。そんな様子を見る事ができ、嬉しく思いました
