Happy birthday Hario! Did you know that Hario is two years old now? It’s amazing how fast the time has gone by. It seems like only a short time ago that Pioneer became Hario to start a new era for our school. We celebrated the birthday on Saturday at the restaurant of a student of ours. We had sashimi, tofu, pickles and tempura. Delicious! I also tried something I had never heard of before. It’s a snack made of salty fish spines. I was a bit apprehensive at first because it’s almost entirely made of fish bones. But when I tried it I found it to be quite tasty. These types of dishes are called `otsumami`, which means a snack that goes well with beer. In Ireland people usually have potato chips or peanuts when they drink, but here in Japan there is a much greater variety of otsumami available.
Here at Hario this week, our autumn campaign is underway, where students can have trial lessons with us. I enjoy welcoming new students to our school. It’s always nice to see some new faces here. So come over and see what Hario is all about!
