Our Annual Showcase 　HARIOの一大イベント！

Hello everyone,
The weather’s turned cold this week. I’ve been battling a small throat infection and my voice got really low and gravelly. Some students were a little surprised when I spoke to them. I’ve been trying to maintain good etiquette so as not to spread my throat infection onto anyone else. I’m washing my hands between each class, turning away when coughing, and so on. Please take care of yourself.

みなさん、こんにちは。
今週は急に天気が変わりましたね。私はこの気候の変化のせいか、のどを痛めてしまいました。
低く、こわい声になっています。私が話し出すと、生徒達が声の変化に驚いています。
私の風邪が皆さんにうつらないよう、授業と授業の間には手洗いをしています。
皆さんも風邪には気を付けてくださいね。

Our annual speech contest is on Saturday. After months of preparation Hario English School’s annual showcase should be a great event. It’s a chance for our students to show their English skill on a stage in front of 300 people. This year we’ve been even more strict on pronunciation and tried to help students and parents by recording videos of the students’ speeches and giving feedback. I hope that helps. The 10th rank performance is the biggest we’ve ever done. Yuka, in particular, has worked hard on the Let It Go song. I hope the children can be as loud on the stage as they were in the rehearsal last week. There are a couple of new innovations for this year. We’re adding a Japanese subtitle track to help the non-English speaking audience members. Also, each student has made a 20-second introduction film that will play before their speech. I’ve been spending most of my office hours this week

compiling them. I think you’ll find them funny and entertaining. Yui has made some great decorations, Taka wrote the programme, Yuka has prepared the presents and Alan has made a very ambitious opening movie. The staff here have all worked very hard to put on the show, as have the students taking part. I hope it goes well and I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

そして、HARIO恒例の大イベントであるスピーチコンテストは今週の土曜日です。
何か月もかけて準備をしているイベントですので、見ごたえのあるものになるはずです。
生徒達は３００人もの観客の前で英語のスピーチをするという経験をします。
今年は、発音を厳しく教えました。そのために、生徒さんにビデオを持参してもらい
外国人講師が発音を教えているところを録画してもらいました。
この方法が役立ってくれるといいですね。
スピーチだけでなく、PLS10級と幼児クラスの発表もこれまでにない力をいれました。
とくにスタッフのゆうかが「アナと雪の女王」の歌の演出を一生懸命考えてくれました。
先週行ったリハーサルと同じぐらい、生徒達がステージでも大きな声でパフォーマンスが
できることを願っています。
そして今年も、新たな取り組みをしました。
まず、スピーチの訳を日本語でスクリーンに映し出すことです。また、出場者全員が
２０秒の自己紹介ビデオをつくり、それをスピーチの前に流します。
皆さん、楽しんでいただけると思いますよ。
ゆいは、ステージのデコレーションを担当し、タカはプログラム作成
ゆうかは参加賞、アランはオープニングムービーを担当しています。
このイベントのために全員のスタッフが一生懸命準備にとりかかっています。
また参加する生徒の皆さんも本番に向けて日々がんばっています。
このスピーチコンテストが素晴らしいものとなることを、また皆さんに土曜日にお会いできる
ことを願います。
