Did you have a nice obon week holiday? We had a week off and started back last Thursday. I’ve been asking our students if they did anything during the holiday. Most of them stayed home and did their summer homework. I had a quiet week too. Most of the time I chilled out at home because it was too hot to go outside. We went to Mount Fuji Children’s World on Aug 11th. It’s a great place to take kids because they have canoeing, farm animals, mini golf, labyrinths and lots of things for kids to do. I think we picked the right time to go because it rained for a few days after that. It was for most of the morning and even though I used suncream I still got a little sunburned on my arms. My skin doesn’t tan easily, so it goes red after about 40 minutes in the sun without cream. Usually I’m careful in the strong sun here in Japan, but I guess I wasn’t careful enough. It’s fine now, however, and has changed from red to tanned. which is rare for me. Irish people like to get darker skin, so they often go out and sun-bathe during the short summer in Ireland. Winter is dark and cloudy, so it’s impossible to get any sun at that time. During the winter months, many people in Ireland wear false tan, so they look like they have been out in the sun. I noticed that people in Japan are the opposite, and would rather have whiter skin. We’re coming to the end of August now and I’ve noticed that the cicadas are getting quieter, so hopefully it will get a little cooler soon. Before you know it, silver week will be here and we can enjoy the start of autumn.

みなさん、こんにちは。
お盆休みはいかがお過ごしでしたか先週は 1 週間HARIOも夏休みのため休校でした。

私は生徒たちに休暇中に何をしたか聞いています。彼らのほとんどは家にいて、夏休みの宿題をしていたそうです。

私も静かな一週間でした。暑すぎて外に出られないので、ほとんどの時間、私は家でくつろいでいました。

8月11日に富士山こどもの国に行きました。

カヌー、動物、ミニゴルフ、迷路など、子供向けのアクティビティがたくさんあるので、子供を連れて行くのに最適な場所です。その後は数日間雨が降ったので、その日行ってよかったと思いました。

午前中だけでしたが、日焼け止めクリームを使用したにもかかわらず、日焼けをし、いまだに日焼けがおちません

私の肌はクリームなしで日光に当たると40分くらいで赤くなってしまいます。

ここ日本ではいつも強い日差しに気をつけていますが、注意が足らなかったようです。

でも今は、赤から日焼けに変わりました。私にとっては珍しいことです。

アイルランド人は肌が黒くなるのが好きなので、アイルランドの短い夏の間、外に出て日光浴をすることがよくあります。

冬は暗くて曇っているので、その時期に太陽を浴びることは不可能です。

冬の間、アイルランドの多くの人々は夏の間にため込んだ日焼けをしているので、太陽の下にいたかのように見えます。

でも日本人は逆で、むしろ肌が白いほうが好きなようです。

8月も終わりに近づいてきましたが、蝉が静かになってきているので、早く涼しくなることを願っています。

いつの間にかシルバーウィークがやってきて、秋の始まりを楽しむことができます
