Hario Camp 2017

Hello everyone,

As you may have heard, Hario Camp 2017 took place last weekend. I’m happy to tell you it was a great success! Everyone had a fantastic time. It rained for a while on Saturday morning when we started. I felt a little down when I saw the rain, but when the students arrived they were all so happy and excited to start. That positive energy really lifted my spirits and everyone forgot about the rain and had fun. We had our first few activities in the camp indoor center. We had lots of fun English activities which the students said they enjoyed. The rain stopped at about 3:00p.m., just in time for our camp exploration game. We took a walk all around the camp site and the students enjoyed searching for hidden clues to our game. Once we finished those activities, it was time to get started on dinner. It took a little time to get the fire going because some of the wood was damp, but once we did we cooked up some delicious food! Our students did an excellent job of organising the cooking jobs in their own teams. There was great variety in our dinner this year. We had gyoza pizza, which I had never eaten before, and it was delicious. We also had three kinds of soup, rice, spaghetti, and salad. There was plenty to go around and everyone was well fed by the end. We had a night stamp rally bingo game after dinner. Everyone enjoyed exploring the darkness with their flashlights. It was a little spooky! Then we had a campfire with roasted marshmallows, biscuits and chocolate sauce. Put them together and you have what’s called “smores”. It was another first for me and I thought it was sugary heaven. We had such an action packed day I slept pretty well. On Sunday we got up early for breakfast and had our annual Hario Camp wide game. This year we met some new characters and had fun helping our animal friends.

By the end of the camp everyone was all tuckered out. Our students went home for a well deserved nap. I was really impressed with their teamwork, cooperation and English used this year. It was a difficult choice to choose who won our M.V.P. prize because there were so many helpful and dedicated students this year. Well done to all of you! See you at the next camp!

みなさん、こんにちは。

もうご存知かと思いますが、先週末はHARIO　イングリッシュ　キャンプ　2017でした。大成功に終わったことをご報告できることを嬉しく思います。みんなですばらしい時間を過ごせました。土曜日の午前中、私達が出発したときからしばらくは雨でした。雨に少しばかりがっかりしましたが、元気いっぱいの生徒たちが到着したら、わくわくしてスタートできました。ポジティブなエネルギーが本当に私の気持ちを盛り上げてくれて、みんなで楽しく過ごせました。

最初のいくつかのアクティビティはキャンプ地の屋内施設内でやりました。英語を使ったアクティビティでみんなで楽しみました。雨は、探検ゲームを始める三時くらいまでには上がりました。私達はキャンプサイト内を歩いてまわって、あちこちに隠されたゲームの手掛かりを探しました。

アクティビティが終わったら、夕食の準備です。雨で薪が湿ったために、火を起こすのに少々時間がかかりましたが、美味しい食事ができました！生徒たちはチームごとに決まった料理を実に手際よく作りました。今年のディナーはバラエティに富んでいます。ギョウザ・ピザ、これは私も初めて食べたのですが、おいしかったです。それからスープ三種類、ライス、スパゲティ、そしてサラダ。たくさんあったので、みんなお腹いっぱいになるまで食べました。

食事の後はキャンプ・ファイヤーです。マシュマロをキャンプ・ファイヤーの火であぶって、ビスケットで挟み、チョコレートソースをかけると”smore　（スモア）”と呼ばれるお菓子になります。これも私は初めて食べたのですが、幸せを感じる甘さでした。このように盛りだくさんの一日を過ごし、私はぐっすり眠りました。

日曜日は早起きをして朝食を取ったら、年一回のHario キャンプ　ワイド　ゲームです。今年は新しいキャラクターが登場し、動物の友達を手伝ってくれて楽しくすごせました。

　キャンプが終わるころにはみんなくたくたになりました。生徒たちは家に帰ってたっぷりお昼寝したことでしょう。今回、私はみんなのチームワークのよさと英語をたくさん使ったことに本当に感心しました。みんなそれぞれに協力的で、熱心で、誰をMVPにするかを決めるのが難しかったです。みなさん、本当にがんばりました！また来年のキャンプで会いましょう！
