It’s December at last! The year has flown by, and now we can get into the festive spirit as Christmas is on the way. We are taking bookings for our Christmas party here on December 17th, so hurry up and sign up for the big day. It promises to be great day full of Christmas games, crafts and lots of fun. I’ve heard that Santa might even take time out from his busy schedule to say hi to us. Remember, he is very busy making presents now because Christmas day is only 3 weeks away. The north pole is very far from here, so he has a long way to travel, however, we’ll see what we can do. Christmas parties are big part of the holiday culture in Ireland. All companies hold Christmas parties for their staff, in a similar way to New Year parties here in Japan. I’ve been to many back when I lived in Ireland, and they involve lots of drinking, dancing, singing, and usually chances to win some prizes. If you walk around Dublin city any evening in December, you can probably find a Christmas party going on in one of the many bars. There are many iconic Christmas songs everyone likes to sing at this time of the year. Many of the popular ones are the same in Japan and Ireland, for example, Mariah Carey and Last Christmas. However, many Japanese people don’t know Ireland’s own Christmas hit by the Pogues called “The Fairytale of New York”. It was released in 1987, and everyone sings along to it at Christmas parties all over Ireland. I think it will be even more popular this Christmas because the lead singer, Shane MacGowan, passed away last week. It was big news in Ireland because his band was very popular over the years. とうとう12月ですね！あっという間に一年が過ぎ、クリスマスも近づいてきました　HARIOでは12月17日に開催されるクリスマスパーティーのご予約を承っております! クリスマスゲームや工作など、盛りだくさんの一日になりますよ　サンタさんも忙しいスケジュールの合間を縫って、私たちに挨拶してくれるかもしれないと聞いていますクリスマスまであと3週間しかないので、聞くところによるとサンタさんは今プレゼント作りに大忙しだそうです　北極はここからとても遠いので、サンタさんは長い道のりを旅をするんですよね！アイルランドではクリスマス・パーティーはホリデーの中でもとても大きな祝日なんです　日本の新年のようなものですね。アイルランドに住んでいた頃、何度もパーティーに行ったことがありますが、たくさんのお酒を飲み、踊り、歌い、そしてプレゼントをもらいます　12月の夜にダブリンの街を歩けば、たくさんのバーでクリスマスパーティーをしています。この時期、誰もが好んで歌う代表的なクリスマス・ソングはたくさんあります。例えば、マライア・キャリーやラスト・クリスマスなどですね。多くの日本人はポーグスの「ニューヨークのおとぎ話」というアイルランド独自のクリスマス・ヒット曲を知らないでしょう。1987年にリリースされたこの曲は、アイルランド中のクリスマス・パーティーでみんなが口ずさんでいる曲なんです♪♬　リード・ボーカルのシェーン・マクゴーワンが先週亡くなったので、今年のクリスマスはさらに人気が出ると思う。彼のバンドは長年とても人気があったので、アイルランドでは大きなニュースになりました　あなたのお気に入りのクリスマス・ソングは何ですか？
