Hello everyone!

 

Yesterday was a big day for baseball fans all around the world as Ichiro Suzuki played his last MLB professional baseball game. He finished his career at age 45 playing with his first MLB team (again) the Seattle Mariners. I want to talk about a few things you may not know about Ichiro.

 

He strengthened his body by hitting balls with shovels and throwing care tires! His couch when he was younger had his players all do this to strenghten their wrists and arms. When he was 8 years old he was able to hit balls from batting machines at 100km/h. After a few years of training at higher speeds he was able to hit balls at 150km/h by age 15. One thing that many western fans may not know is that he was a star high school pitcher! Ichiro is known around the world as a great hitter but he could pitch very well too.

 

Us baseball fans will always remember his great 27 year career and for being possibly the greatest Japanese baseball player ever. Good luck Ichiro on your retirement!

先週は、野球ファンにとっては忘れられない日になりました。

それはイチローのプロ野球最後の試合があったからです。彼は最初にいたシアトルマリナーズに戻り、そしてそのチームで４５才という年令で引退を決めました。今日は皆さんにイチローについて少しお話しさせてください。

 

彼は体の強化のために練習でしゃべるをつかってバッティング練習をし、タイヤをつかって投げる練習をしたそうです。

彼が８才のとき、時速１００キロのバッティングマシーンでヒットをうち、１５才までには１５０キロまでいったそうです。

彼は高校生の時は、エースの投手でした。しかし今では、世界で有名な素晴らしい野手となりました。

彼は２７年間、偉大な記録を残し、心と記録に残る選手となりました。

イチロー、あなたは素晴らしい。今後の活躍も祈ります。
