Hello everyone,

The Rugby World Cup ended last weekend and South Africa win the final. Ireland actually beat South Africa in the group stages, so Ireland has some credit for beating the eventual champions. The scores in all three of South Africa’s knockout stage matches were amazing. It’s rare to win a rugby match by only one point, but South Africa did it three times in a row! They beat France 29-28, England 16-15 and New Zealand 12-11 in the final. Each match was an incredibly close nail-biter. I predict that Ireland will break their quarter-final curse and make it to the semi-final in the next world cup in 2027. It will be held in Australia, so I won’t have to get up at 4am to watch any of the matches, thankfully.

Today is officially Halloween! Here at Hario we have a full week of Halloween fun, so that all of our students can enjoy dressing up. We’ve had many amazing costumes so far! In Ireland, many people set off fireworks on Halloween night. I found it to be a similar tradition to lighting fireworks on summer nights in Japan. However, the home fireworks here are usually handheld sparklers that light up for a few seconds. In Ireland, all fireworks are illegal. This doesn’t stop many people from buying them at street markets all over the country. That’s why people can get rockets as well as sparklers, which aren’t safe for use at home. Most people believe that big rockets should be left for use by professional fireworks displays. Either way, the skies will light up all over Ireland tonight. Have a happy Halloween!

みなさん、こんにちは。アラン・フィリップスです。

ラグビーワールドカップは先週末に閉幕し、決勝では南アフリカが勝利しました。

私の母国のアイルランドはグループステージで南アフリカを破りました。

最終的なチャンピオンを破ったアイルランドも功績を残しました

南アフリカの決勝トーナメント 3 試合すべてのスコアは驚異的でした。

ラグビーの試合でわずか 1 点差で勝つことはまれですが、南アフリカは 3 回連続で勝ちました。

決勝ではフランスを29対28、イングランドを16対15、ニュージーランドを12対11で破りました。

どの試合も信じられないほど接戦でした。

私は、アイルランドが準々決勝の呪いを打ち破り、2027年の次のワールドカップで準決勝に進出すると予想しています。

大会はオーストラリアで開催されるので、試合を見るために朝4時に起きる必要はありません。

時差がそれほどない開催地はありがたい！

火曜日は正式なハロウィンでした！

ハリオでは生徒の皆さんが仮装を楽しんでいただけるよう、一週間ハロウィンを楽しんでいます。

アイルランドではハロウィーンの夜に多くの人が花火を打ち上げます。

日本の夏の夜に花火を打ち上げるのと同じような伝統だと思いました。

ただし、ここでの家庭用花火は通常、数秒間点灯する手持ちの線香花火です。

アイルランドでは、すべての花火は違法です。

それでも、全国各地のストリートマーケットで多くの人がそれらを買うのを止めることはできません。

そのため、家庭で使用するには安全ではない線香花火だけでなくロケットも手に入ることがあります。

ほとんどの人は、大きなロケットはプロの花火大会で使用するために残すべきだと考えています。

いずれにせよ、今夜はアイルランド中の空が明るくなるでしょう。 楽しいハロウィンをお過ごしください！
