Hello everyone,

It’s July already, and the formidable summer humidity is creeping in. Every day I can feel the moisture in the air increasing. Once the rainy season ends, the real summer heat will kick in and we will need the air-conditioner at night. I wonder how people slept in summer in the days before air-conditioners were invented.

Here at Hario, it’s a very exciting week for our speech students. We are giving out the speech homework! They can finally begin practicing at home. For our first timers, it’s a very new experience. It takes a lot of time and perseverance to learn, but the end result is worth it. For a first grader to give a full speech in front of an audience is a great achievement. To give one in another language is even more impressive. For our veterans, they know what it takes to learn a speech. But, do they know what makes a winning speech? We help as much as possible, but in the end it’s down to the students’ own dedication and hard work. The veterans can be very competitive, so I’m looking forward to some good rivalries this year. With the speech contest in the distance, our kindergarten students will learn their song and dance performance too. This can take just as much work as learning a speech so good luck to them too. It feels great to be on the next step of our journey to the speech contest.

もう7月ですね。

夏の蒸し暑さが忍び寄っています。毎日、湿度の高さを感じます。梅雨が明けると、真夏の暑さが始まり、夜はエアコンが必須になります。エアコンが発明される前、人々はどのように真夏の間は眠っていたのでしょうか

ここハリオでは、とてもエキサイティングな一週間となっています。そう、スピーチホームワークが配布となったのです

生徒の皆さんは、ついに家でスピーチの練習を始められますね。スピーチが始めての生徒の皆さんとっては、新しい経験ですね。

学ぶには多くの時間と忍耐が必要ですが、最終的にその時間を費やした価値があります一年目の生徒達が、大勢の人の前で英語でスピーチをすることは、素晴らしい成果です。しかも母国語ではない言語でのスピーチにはいっそう感動します。

すでにベテランとなった生徒達は、スピーチをするのに何が必要かを知っています。しかし、何がスピーチを勝利に導くか知っていますか？私たちはできる限りのサポートをしますが、最終的には生徒達の献身と努力にかかっています。ベテランチームは混戦です。皆さんの熱き戦いを楽しみにしています。また、スピーチコンテストのために、幼児クラスの生徒たちやPLS１０級、９級の生徒達が、歌やダンスのパフォーマンスを学びます。これはスピーチを学ぶのと同じくらい多くの時間を要します。彼らにも幸運を祈ります。それでは
