Today is the last day of August. It feels like autumn now, the air is a little bit cooler, but it’s still very humid. The school summer vacations have come to an end. Most of our students are back to school this week. Some of them are in a rush to finish their homework! They all have a lot to do over the summer, with their clubs, homework and upcoming exams. There are big tests at school just after the summer vacation, so it’s up to the students to motivate themselves to study during the holiday. It’s difficult to make yourself study when you aren’t at school. I think our students show great self-discipline to get up early every day and get down to work.

Autumn also means that we have officially started our Hario Autumn campaign! Students can come and observe our lessons to see what Hario is all about. We cater for all ages and levels, so come and see all of the benefits of studying here!

Last weekend I went to an owl sanctuary near Asagiri. They had many kinds of owls, along with other birds such as penguins, emus, flamingos and hawks. There was a great show where the owls would fly around and land on the instructor’s hand. The hawk show didn’t go well, however. He must have been nervous because he flew away from the instructor and stayed on the roof of the shop for a while! Eventually he came back down, so we were relieved. They put a barn owl on my shoulder, it was a really friendly bird. Have a look at the photos, I really recommend visiting there.
