Have you seen Hario’s reception this week? It’s looking very green! Green shamrocks and leprechauns everywhere. What could it mean? Saint Patrick’s Day is on the way of course! It’s March already, and on the 17th people all over the World celebrate Ireland and its heritage. I will be wearing green on that day, like many Irish people. It is recognised as the national colour of Ireland. Our sports teams and athletes all wear green, and our country’s nickname is “The Emerald Isle”. The Irish flag is green, white and orange. The green part of the flag represents the “Gaelic” or old Irish traditions. Many countries have national colours that they are proud of. You usually see these colours with great displays at sports games. During Ireland’s football games, the supporters have been described as a “sea of green”. Usually, the team colours are associated with the national flag, but Japan’s football team are “The Blue Samurai”, despite the flag being red and white. You often find red and white uniforms on the other Japanese athletes.
I have noticed that the UK flag has become very fashionable here. You can find on many clothes all over Japan.
I can see every nation’s flag on the new poster on our wall, they make the world a bright place.
