Happy “Pocky Day”! I heard that Japan has invented a celebration for November 11th. 11/11 resembles a bunch of pocky sticks, so people have decided to name the day “Pocky Day”. I think that the company came up with this idea, because Japan has a strong culture of giving and receiving sweets. Confectionery companies are responsible for the giving of chocolate on Valentines Day and White Day too. I’m sure they will sell some more pocky this week! I don’t wait for “Pocky Day”, I eat them all year round.
Are you excited? Well you should be because the Hario Speech Contest 2015 is coming this Saturday. Only three days to go! There is an air of anticipation around our school this week as the students prepare their performances for the big day. We had a rehearsal for our 10th rank song and dance last Saturday. I’m really looking forward to seeing them perform on the stage. The students speeches are coming along nicely too. I think our students have worked harder at their speeches than in previous years. They will all be performing their speeches on parents day, which starts this week. I’m sure the parents are very proud of their children for putting so much time and effort in to their speech.
