Happy Culture Day

Hello everyone,

First of all, a big thanks to all of our students who made an effort to wear a costume last week. It was great fun to celebrate Halloween here, and I was really impressed by the costumes they wore. Some of them were hilarious!
It was “Culture Day” yesterday, a national holiday which promotes culture, the arts and academic endeavor. Fun fact!: Culture Day is statistically one of the clearest days of the year. Between 1965 and 1996, there have only been three years with rain occurring in Tokyo on Culture Day! It’s a really clear time of year right now, so we have some lovely views of Mount Fuji. The weather is getting cooler now, but it’s surprisingly warm for November. It’s about 20 degrees today! That makes my Irish friends and family jealous, because it’s getting quite cold over there right now, about 12 degrees during the day.
At Hario this week we are busy preparing for the speech contest, it’s only ten days away! It promises to be a fun and exciting day, and I hope everyone enjoys the show. This week we are presenting our students with certificates for completing the speech homework. Any student who can say their full speech gets a certificate acknowledging the work and effort that they put in. We’re proud of all of you, well done!

みなさんこんにちは。

まず初めに、先週ハロウィンの衣装を着て来て下さった生徒の皆さん、ありがとうございました。
皆さんとハロウィンをお祝いできてとても楽しかったです。非常におもしろいコスチュームの生徒さんも何人かいましたね。

そして昨日は文化の日でした。文化、芸術、学問をすすめる休日です。おもしろうんちくとして、文化の日は1年で最も晴れ渡る日の1日のようです。1965年から1996年の間で雨が降ったのは3回だけのようです。今現在、最も晴れ間の多い時期です。その為、秋晴れの中に栄える富士山を見ることができます。気候は徐々に寒くなっていますが、11月にしては驚くほど暖かい気候です。本日も気温約20度あります。そのため私のアイルランドの友人や家族は羨ましく思っていると思います。もう既にアイルランドではすごく寒くなっていて、ここ最近は気温12度くらいの様です。

HARIOではスピーチコンテストの準備が進んでおります。本番まであと10日となりました。楽しくワクワクする1日となると思います。是非皆さんに楽しんで頂きたいと思います。

今週からはスピーチホームワークを終え、すべてのスピーチを言える様になった生徒さん達にはこれまでの頑張って頂いた証として、賞状をあげています。皆さん本当に良く頑張ってくれました。ありがとうございます。
