Hello everyone,

How’s your Halloween week? Have you seen anything unusual? Our students have come in some fantastic costumes this week and we’ve had a lot of fun in class. My costume is a PLS attendance sheet. If you don’t understand the joke, don’t worry. Our students get the reference to my costume.

みなさん、こんにちは。
ハロウィンウィークをいかがおすごしですか。
なにかいつもと違うものをみましたか。生徒たちが今週は楽しませてくれるコスチュームできてくれるので、大盛り上がりです。
私の今年のコスチュームは、PLSクラスの「出席表」です。私のコスチュームのジョークがわからなくても心配いりませんよ。

I’m a big cycling fan. I like watching big cycling events like the Tour de France and at the Olympics. Right now the UK is the strongest country in the world for cycling and having a cycling boom. Last Saturday, I went to Saitama to see a cycling race called the Tour de France Criterium Saitama. Many top international cyclists took part, including the winner of the Tour de France, Chris Froome (who is British by the way). Also many top Japanese cyclists took part too. The main race was a 20 lap race around a circuit at the Saitama station. It went through a tunnel and Saitama Super Arena. I found a good spot to see the race and you could stand metres from the cyclists as they raced past. It was very exciting. The lead changed many times. At one point it looked like Chris Froome or a Japanese cyclist might win. In the end, a top German cyclist called Jon Degenkolb won. I was stood 400 metres from the finish line. On the last lap he was in 4th place with 400 metres to go and about 30 metres behind the leader. But he sprinted the best and won. I really enjoyed the race.

ところで私は自転車のファンです。ツールドフランスやオリンピックのような自転車の大きなロードレースを見るのがすきです。イギリスは現在、世界で一番自転車が強く、また国民にも自転車ブームが来ています。
先週の土曜日、私はツールドフランスをみるために埼玉へいってきました。たくさんのトップアスリートが参加していました。その中に、クリス・フルームというイギリス人のツールドフランス優勝者もいました。日本人のトップアスリート達もたくさん参加していました。
メインのレースは、埼玉駅の周りを２０周するコースで、トンネルや埼玉スーパーアリーナも
通ります。私は観戦するのに絶好の場所をみつけました。
選手たちを近距離でみることができました。レースでは、クリス・フルーム選手か日本人の選手が優勝予想されていました。しかし結果は、ドイツのヨーン・デーゲンコルプ選手が優勝しました。私はゴール地点から４００Mほどのところにいました。最後の周回のとき、彼は４番手でした。ゴールまで４００Mの地点でトップと３０M差でしたが、最後に大逆転をしました。とても面白いレースでした。
