Hello everyone,

Here at Hario we are already busy preparing for our speech contest in November. It’s over two months away, but the contest is a large production and takes a lot of preparation. We are coming up with ideas for what to put in to this year’s show to make it as enjoyable as possible for our audience. The students are putting in a tremendous amount of effort in to their speeches every week. They are coming along nicely and some students can recite their entire speech already! Reciting a speech is one thing, but the most difficult part is saying it with the correct pronunciation and intonation. They also have to get the volume right and speak clearly. All of this, and they have to smile and let their personality shine through. It’s a lot to remember!

Have you been following the Athletics World Championships this week? Kenya are currently in the lead on the medals table, with the U.K. in second place. Japan have yet to get a medal but there is still time. There are three promising 200 meter sprinters who qualified in their heats yesterday. It was good to see Usain Bolt win the 100 meter final against his biggest rival Justin Gatlin. People thought that Bolt might be past his best, but he won in a close finish. Enjoy the rest of the games, good luck Japan!

みなさんこんにちは。

HARIOイングリッシュスクールでは11月に行われるスピーチコンテストの準備が始まりました。
2ヶ月先ではありますが、大きなイベントなので準備に時間が掛かります今年のコンテストについてのアイデアを考えています。生徒の皆さんは毎週凄く努力してスピーチホームワークをやってきてくれるので順調に進んでいます中にはもう既に全文のスピーチを覚えて言える生徒さんもいますね覚えるのもそうですが、一番難しいのは文章を正しい発音、正しいイントネーションで言う事だと思います。またちょうどいい声の大きさではっきりと話すことも必要です。これらに、笑顔と皆さんの元気さも見せなければなりません。覚える事は沢山ありますね

さてみなさんは世界陸上を見ていますか。今現在、ケニヤがメダル獲得数のランクトップにいます。イギリスが2番に続いています。日本はまだメダルは獲得していませんが、時間はまだあります。さらに日本には昨日、予選を通過した有望な200メートル走者が3人います
私はウサイン・ボルトが彼の最大のライバル、ジャスティン・ガトリンを破り100メートル走で優勝したのが嬉しかったです。ボルトはもう全盛期を終わったなんて言う人もいるようですが、彼は僅差で勝ちました。残りの試合も楽しんでください。そして日本も頑張れ
