Happy Sea Day 海の日

Hello everyone,

I hope you enjoyed the public holiday last Monday. It was “Sea Day”, observed on the third Monday of July every year. The purpose of the holiday is to give thanks to the sea, and to consider the importance of the ocean to Japan as an island nation. The holiday is relatively new, and started back in 1996. It is part of the “Happy Monday System”, in which several public holidays had their dates changed to take place on a Monday every year. This creates a long weekend for people to enjoy for several days of the year. It’s nice and refreshing to have a three day weekend!

At Hario this week our students are receiving their speech packs. They are so happy and excited when they get their personalized speech pack with CD, speech, vocabulary list, and homework sheet. It’s great to see their faces light up when they see it. They are very eager to get practicing. Our summer morning classes are also beginning this week. With the school summer vacations underway, students can take the opportunity to improve their English during the break.

みなさんこんにちは。

今週月曜日の祝日でしたがよい祝日をすごされましたでしょうか”海の日”ということで毎年7月の第3月曜日がお休みとなります。この海の日は海に感謝をし、島国である日本にとって海の重要性を考えてもらおうと制定されました。この祝日は比較的新しいもので、1996年から始まりました
海の日は”ハッピーマンデー制度”のひとつであり、毎年月曜日に祝日になるようになっていますこれにより、長めの週末を楽しむことができるようになります。3日間の週末休みがあるのはリフレッシュできていいですね

HARIO では生徒さん達がスピーチホームワークを受け取っています。みなさんスピーチを受け取る時、とても嬉しそうに受け取ってくれますそんな彼等のあかるい表情を見れるのはとても嬉しそうです。そして皆さんとてもスピーチホームワークに対してやる気に満ちています
今週から平日夏期講習も始まります。学校の夏休みの間、生徒の皆さんは英語のレベルアップができるいいチャンスですね
