Hello everyone,

Happy Hinamatsuri! It was yesterday and I got the chance to eat some traditional Hinamatsuri food for dinner. I had Chirashizushi (sushi rice flavoured with sugar, vinegar, topped with raw fish) made by my mother in law. It was delicious! Sashimi is a favourite of mine so I knew I would like it.
Last weekend I took a trip to Tokyo to see a friend of mine who was visiting from Ireland. I’ve been to Tokyo several times but I’m always amazed by the sheer number of people everywhere. There is nothing like walking through the buzzing streets of Shibuya. I love the big street crossing there. We also saw some expensive sports cars driving around in the area. You can really tell that you are walking around one of the most expensive places in the World. We had dinner at the “Robot restaurant” in Shinjuku. You have dinner while giant robots dance, fight and sing in front of you. You can see from the photos it’s crazy but great fun. We stayed in a capsule hotel which was interesting. It has all of the comforts of a regular hotel condensed into a small 2 meter by 1 meter box. What surprised me the most there was that they give you clothes (sort of pyjamas) when you check in and you wear them around the hotel. So everyone is dressed the same when lounging around in the hotel. It was very comfortable though and I slept well there. All in all I had a fantastic time there.

ハッピーひな祭り！昨日はひな祭りで、私はひな祭りの伝統的な夕食を食べました。義理の母が作ってくれたちらし寿司はとても美味しかったです。お刺身が大好きなので、ちらし寿司も好きになるだろうなと思っていました。

先週末はアイルランドから友達が訪ねてきてくれ、東京に旅行をしました。東京には何回か行った事がありますが、いつもすごい数の人に驚かされます。渋谷の道は歩く場所がないです。渋谷の大きな交差点を渡るのは楽しかったです。また、何台かの高級スポーツカーを渋谷の街で見かけました。本当に、世界の中でも最も高級地を歩いているといっても過言でないと思います。新宿の「ロボットレストラン」というところで夕飯を食べました。大きなロボットたちが踊ったり、飛んだり、歌っているところでご飯が食べられます。写真から、可笑しな、でもとても楽しい様子が伝わると思います。

私たちはカプセルホテルに泊まりました。2メートル×1メートルのカプセルの中に普通のホテルと同じ必要なものが詰まっています。一番驚いたのは、チェックインの時にパジャマを貸してくれて、ホテルの中をそれを着て移動できることです。ホテルの中の人たちはみんな同じ格好をしていました。でもとても快適で、良く眠れました。東京で、とても良い時間を過ごすことができました。
