What a Day!　すばらしかったスピーチコンテスト

Hello everyone,
What a day! Our annual speech contest took place last Saturday after months of preparation. Our students did fantastically! Everyone remembered their speech and spoke on the stage well, remembering all the advice and the pronunciation correction we’d been giving. Well done! I think this year the quality of speeches was the best yet. Not only the prize winners, but the other finalists and everyone else who learnt a speech this year tried hard. I hope they can continue to use their new vocabulary, remember all the training for pronunciation and so on and keep improving their English. Some 6th graders helped us out on the day and everyone did a great job, MC-ing, giving an opening address, as well as helping with decorations and at reception. Also, our younger students did a 4 song epic performance on the stage. They looked really fantastic in their Halloween costumes again. It was nice to see flags of the world and colours of the rainbow on the stage. The visiting judges were really impressed by the day and the quality and confidence of our young students’ English speeches. The opening movie, our tribute to Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’, made quite the impression. Alan spent a lot of time putting that together so many thanks. In the next few weeks we’ll put up some photos of the big day and have a DVD for sale. I think this year’s speech contest showed our school, Hario English School, in a very positive light and gave our students a chance to shine. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen and to everyone who came along to watch.

The Christmas party is coming soon. We’re making plans and it should be a fun event as ever. Please come along if you can. Santa has RSVPed. I wonder what size, shape and accent he’ll have this year. It’s always different! How strange!

みなさん、こんにちは。
年に1度のイベント、スピーチコンテストが土曜日に行われました。
参加者の皆さんはステージ上で私達がアドバイスしてきたことや発音の注意をしっかりと覚えており、とても素晴らしいスピーチをしてくれました。
今年のスピーチのレベルは今までで一番だったと私は思います。今回賞を受賞した生徒さん達だけではなく、スピーチを覚えてくれた全ての生徒さん達、みなさん凄く良く頑張ってくれたと思います。新しく出てきた単語はこれからも会話の中で使い、発音の注意などは忘れない様にして、もっと英語が上達してくれたらいいなと思います。
また、数名の6年生が当日、お手伝いをしてくれました。会の司会や、開会の言葉、会場のデコレーションや受付の担当など、とても助かりました。ありがとうございました。
10級や幼児クラスの生徒さん達は、ステージ上で歌を披露してくれました。4曲ありましたが最高のステージでした。皆さんハロウィンの衣装を着用してとてもステキでした。ステージ上では、各国の国旗やレインボーの旗がとても綺麗でした。
今回、審査員をして下さった方々皆、スピーチのレベルの高さや「スピーチコンテスト」というイベントのクオリティーにとても感動されていました。その一つに、ファレルウィリアムズさんの”happy”という曲を使ったオープニングムービーは印象的でした。このムービー制作にあたっては、アラン先生が多くの時間を使い作ってくれました。ありがとう、アラン。
数週間後には、この日の写真が掲示され、ＤＶＤも販売予定されています。
今回のスピーチコンテストで、”Harioイングリッシュスクール”の素晴らしさを改めて感じる事ができ、また生徒さんも輝く事が出来た素晴らしいコンテストだったと思います。
スピーチコンテストを成功させてくれた皆さん、来場してくださった皆様、ありがとうございました。

次はクリスマスパーティーがやってきます。只今、いろいろなプランを検討中です。いつものように楽しい会になることと思います。そして今年もサンタさんが来てくれることになりましたが、直接話をしたわけではないので、どんな体系で、どんなアクセントをしているのか分りません。いつも違うサンタさんですからね。お楽しみに。
