Hello everyone,

Are you enjoying the summer? For me, this weather is a little to hot and humid. The summers back in England are a little milder. Nevermind. This week is another busy week for us. Last Saturday we had a staff party to welcome Yui and Yuka as official members of the Hario English School staff. Also we celebrated the birth of Alan’s daughter Midoriko. So welcome, welcome and congratulations! The World Cup finished with Germany winning. They were clearly the best team and it was a fitting end to a great tournament. Congratulations to Mr O, my adult student, who picked Germany and won the football pool prediction game! Parent’s day classes are continuing. I’m glad our students’ parents can see them in action learning English. I hope they can see our students studying hard, having fun and making improvement. I also hope the parents can better understand our teaching methods too by watching a class.

It’s the time of year when we hand out speech homework to PLS students in the 9th rank and above. The staff here spend a lot of time making individual speech packs based on the Japanese manuscripts our students gave us a few months back. They’ll get the chance to learn their speech, and in the process learn new vocabulary, public speaking and stagecraft skills and to brush up their pronunciation. It’s been interesting as always to translate the speeches and to learn more about our students. However, a good speech on paper is one thing but to be able to deliver it well and engage an audience is another. Try to do both! Good luck to everyone who’s doing the speech homework. Have fun.

HARIO 歓迎会＆おめでとう会の様子↑

 

みなさんこんにちは。

 

夏を満喫していますか？私にはこの気候は少し蒸し暑いです。イングランドの夏の方が少し過ごしやすいです。今週も忙しい週です。先週土曜日には、ユイとユウカの歓迎会を行いました。また、アランのお嬢さん、みどりこちゃんの誕生のお祝いもしました。ようこそ、HARIO へ！ようこそHARIOへ！とおめでとう！

そしてワールドカップサッカーはドイツが優勝をして幕を閉じました。ドイツは優勝するにふさわしい強いチームでした。すばらしい大会でしたね。またHARIOのワールドカップ予想ゲームも盛り上がりました。

Mr. Oさんだけが、ドイツが優勝するとよそうし、１位となりました

それと、今週も授業参観が続いています。保護者の皆さんが子どもたちが英語を学んでいる姿をみるよい機会です。きっと保護者の皆さんは、子供たちが一生懸命勉強し、クラスを楽しんでいるところを目撃できることと思います。またPLSシステムによる授業の良さもわかっていただけたら嬉しいです。

それと今週からPLS９級以上のクラスにスピーチホームワークが配布となりました。

我々スタッフは毎回、このスピーチホームワークCDの作成に沢山の時間を費やしています。

でも生徒達の作文を訳すのはいつものことながら面白いです。生徒達のことをより知ることができます。

ともかく、生徒達は、今週から英語でのスピーチを学びんでいきます。この宿題から新しい単語もおぼえ単語力を増やし、人前で話す能力をみにつけ、また発音も勉強していきます。
