I hope you had a good weekend and took advantage of the nice weather before the rainy season begins. I was warned about the rainy season last year but it seemed like normal Irish weather to me, except warmer. However, last year was supposed to be unusually dry for June and July. Ireland doesn`t officially have a rainy season, but it does tend to rain there quiet regularly, and it can happen at any time!

Last Saturday I took a walk through Iwamotoyama park. I had heard about it plenty of times, but I had never actually visited it before. We parked at the top and took a walk down the stairway through the park. It was totally alive with wildlife. We saw a baby owl in tree very close to us. You can see in the photo he looked over as if he was posing for the camera. The mother owl appeared briefly but flew away before I could take a picture. We also saw a snake, apologies for the poor photo quality but it didn`t want to pose and was slithering away fast. You can make out his bright yellow head in the photo. I don`t know much about snakes, is that one poisonous? Maybe I shouldn`t have followed it so closely. We also saw lizards, butterflies and plenty of other insects that decided to feast on my hands and arms. I have quite a few mosquito bites after that walk! This is a great time of year to take a walk through the park if you fancy some wildlife spotting.

みなさん、こんにちは。

 

梅雨の前の素敵な気候を満喫でき、良い週末を過ごされたこととと思います。

去年、初めて日本での梅雨を迎えた私は、梅雨について警告をうけていたのですが、

アイルランドでの普通の天気のようなものでした。暑くなる以外は。

しかしながら、昨年は6月、7月には珍しく、乾燥していたようです。

アイルランドに梅雨はありませんが、1年をとおして少しずつ雨が降る傾向があります。

 

先週の土曜日、私は岩本山公園を散歩しました。

公園についての話は何度も聞いていましたが、今まで訪れたことがありませんでした。

私達は頂上に駐車して公園までの階段の道を歩きました。

そこでは野生生物がとても生き生きしていました。

私達はフクロウの赤ちゃんを見ました。まるでカメラに向かってポーズをとっているような姿が写真よりわかると思います。母親のフクロウも来ましたが、写真を撮る前に飛んで行ってしまいました。

また、蛇も見ました。写真の質が良くなく申し訳ありませんが、蛇はポーズなんてとるか、というように早々と這っていってしまいました。写真より蛇の鮮やかな黄色の頭を見ることができるでしょう。私は蛇には詳しくないですが、毒があるのでしょうか。もしかしたらそんなに近づくべきではなかったのかもしれません。

また、トカゲや蝶々、私の腕や手をごちそうにするたくさんの虫たちもいました。

散歩中、かなりたくさん蚊にさされてしまいました。

 

もし野生の生物を見つけるのが好きならば、今は素晴らしい散歩の時期ですね。
