Hello everyone,

 

Now spring has begun I’m looking forward to spending more time outdoors amongst the beautiful nature here in Shizuoka. I like outdoor activities like hiking and camping. I grew up in the countryside and there were hills near my house. My friends and I used to play in the hills. When I was 18 I worked as a volunteer on a children’s summer camp for an educational charity. I really enjoyed the experience and came back the next year. I continued volunteering on these summer camps for many years and eventually decided to become a teacher based on those experiences working with children. I found there’s lots you can learn and lots you can teach on a camp experience. The charity I worked for had various themed holidays like drama, maths, robotics and even spying! It was lots of fun to do different activities for these themes. More than that, on a camp you can experience real childhood activities like playing games outside and you can learn a lot about yourself. It’s for that reason I’m interested in starting a Hario English School English Camp. We are surveying our students at the moment to see if there’s interest. We haven’t decided yet and it depends on whether we can find the right location, make a reservation and so on. I hope we can do it and I hope enough students are interested. I think an English camp would be a great way to interact outside of the classroom and to get to know our students in a different setting. Do you like camping? Would you be interested in an English camp?

みなさん、こんにちは。

春がやってきましたね。

自然が豊かな、ここ静岡ではアウトドアが楽しめる季節です。

私はハイキングやキャンプのようなアウトドアが好きです。

私はイングランドの田舎で育ったので、周りには山々がありました。

友人と私はよくそこで遊びました。

１８歳のときに、子供を対象にしたサマーキャンプでボランティアの仕事をしました。

とても楽しかったので次の年も同じ仕事をしました。

そこから何年もサマーキャンプでボランティアの仕事をしました。

子供たちとのそれらの経験を通して、私は講師になることを決めました。

キャンプでは教わることも沢山あれば、教えることも沢山あります。

そして外での活動を通して、子供にしかできない経験をすることができます。

私は、HARIOイングリッシュスクール でもこのようなキャンプを英語でやったらいいと思うのです。

昨日から生徒のみなさんにアンケートをとっています。

皆さんがどれぐらいキャンプに興味があるのかを知るためです。

実現できたらいいなと思います。生徒さん達が興味をもってくれたらと思います。

HARIOイングリッシュスクールで企画するイングリッシュキャンプは、学校外で英語が学べるよい機会であり、また違う生徒さんの一面をみれるよい機会でもあると思います。
