It looks like spring has sprung! That`s a saying that we have that means the days are getting a little warmer and there is a feeling of spring in the air as March approaches. We are waiting for the weather report to tell us when to expect Hanami this year. About two weeks ago I saw plum trees with similar looking pink and white petals to the cherry blossom trees. The plum trees bloom much earlier, and this is called Umemi. Every year Hanami comes at some time between March and April. You need to be quick to go see it because the beautiful cherry blossoms only last for one or two weeks. The cherry blossom holds a lot of symbolism in Japan. It is seen on many famous national artworks, kimonos and tourism brochures. When people from other countries think of Japan, one of the first images that comes to mind is the cherry blossom. I have heard that people often have Hanami parties outside under the cherry blossom trees. Sounds like a great idea for a picnic if the weather is nice. Fuji has some of the the best views in the country with Fuji-san in the background. I`m really looking forward to it this year!

みなさん、こんにちは。

とうとう春がやってきたようですね。少しずつ暖かくなり、春の空気を感じます。

今年の花見はいつなのか、桜の開花予想が楽しみです。

約２週間前に、私は桜に似たピンクと白の花を身に着けた梅の木をみました。

梅の木のほうが桜よりも早く咲きます。これを梅見と呼びます。

花見シーズンはいつも３月と４月の間にやってきます。

花見のシーズンは１、２週間で終わってしまうので、美しい花見を見逃さないために

急ぐ必要があります。桜の花見は日本のシンボルでもあります。

旅行のパンフレットには、だいたいこの花と着物が写っています。

なので外国人旅行客が一番に日本をイメージするのが、桜のお花見です。

日本人は、お花見するために桜の木の下でパーティーをすると聞きました。

天気がよかったらピクニックのようでおもしろそうですね。

また富士市は、富士山を背景にした桜がみえる絶好の場所ですね。

今年もお花見が楽しみです。
