I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy new year!! This will be my first Christmas and New Year in Japan in 10 years. I am excited to once more eat fried chicken and strawberry cream cake on Christmas day!

 

Several times while in the UK I tried to have KFC on Christmas but sadly like many restaurants and shops in the UK they are never open on Christmas day and I have never been too fond of traditional Christmas cake which is made with dried fruit and covered in marzipan, so it’s nice to have strawberries instead!

Then on to the new year and I look forward to having some Amazake on New Year’s Day when visiting a local shrine! While we do celebrate the new year in the UK we don’t do a lot on New years day, as we mostly visit family the week before around Christmas.

 

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! And that Santa brings them all they wished for!!

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year！

 

こんにちは、アラン・モリスです。

 

今年は私が日本に帰ってきて初めてのクリスマスとお正月を迎えます。

なんと１０年ぶりです！

日本ではクリスマスと言えばフライドチキンとイチゴのショートケーキですよね～。

私は今からとってもワクワクしています。　　

 

イギリスに住んでいた時は何度かクリスマスにKFC（ケンタッキー・フライド・チキン）でチキンを買おうとしましたが、残念ながら多くのレストランやお店と同様、クリスマス当日に営業していることはまずありません。

ドライフルーツを使った伝統的なクリスマスケーキはあまり好きではないので、代わりにイチゴが食べられるのはとってもうれしいです。

 

そして、なんといっても新年に神社で飲む甘酒が楽しみです

イギリスでは新年を祝いますが、元旦はあまり外に出ません。クリスマスの週に親や親せきと過ごし、お正月は自宅でゆっくり過ごすんです。

 

みなさんが良いクリスマス、そして新年を迎えられますように。そして、サンタさんがみんなの願いを叶えてくれることを願っています。
