Hello everyone,

Christmas is just around the corner, so we are celebrating all week here at Hario. Starting today we will take some Christmas photos with our classes and play a fun game to get into the festive mood. We’ve gone all out with our Christmas decorations this year. Look up, down and all around Hario, you’ll find loads of decorations all over the place. I think Santa would be proud of how festive Hario looks this year. This year, Christmas day falls on a Sunday, so there won’t be any school on the big day. We will spend it together as a family and give and receive presents. What do you usually eat on Christmas Day? When I first came to Japan I was shocked to find that they eat a different bird, cooked in a different way, on a different day. Instead of roast turkey on Christmas Day, Japanese people have fried chicken on Christmas Eve! Kentucky fried chicken is so busy that you need to pre order in advance. If you haven’t tried turkey I recommend that you do, it’s delicious! We have chicken all year round, so it’s nice to try something different. In Ireland the traditional Christmas dinner is smoked salmon on soda bread for starters, turkey, stuffing, ham, roast potatoes, carrots, brussells sprouts and cranberry sauce for the main course, followed by mince pies and Christmas pudding for dessert. When I was young, I didn’t like raisins so I skipped Christmas pudding and ate chocolate from my selection box instead. I still get a selection box of chocolate bars every year from my parents, even though I’m 41 now! What Christmas or New Year’s traditions does your family have? Enjoy the run up to Christmas!

皆さん、こんにちは！

もうすぐクリスマスですね　そしてハリオでは今週クリスマスウィークです

今日から、クラスでクリスマスの写真を撮ったり、楽しいゲームをしたりして、

クリスマスムードを盛り上げていきます

今年はハリオでもクリスマスの飾りつけを凝りましたよ、至る所に飾りをつけたので楽しんでください！

たくさんの飾りを付けたので、サンタさんはハリオをとっても誇らしく思うでしょうね

 

今年はクリスマスが日曜日なので、学校はありません。

私は家族みんなでプレゼントを交換したりして過ごす予定です。 

皆さんは、クリスマスの日どのような物を食べますか？

初めて日本に来たときは本当にびっくりしました。だって、日本の人たちはターキーではなく鶏の唐揚げをクリスマスイブに食べたんです。

 

ケンタッキー・フライド・チキンでは、予約していなかったら、

クリスマスイブにはフライドチキンは買えないので気を付けてくださいね。

でも皆さん、もしターキーを食べたことがなかったら是非食べてみてください。とっても美味しいですよ。

北欧では鶏肉は一年中手に入るので、この日くらいは違うものを食べたいものなんです。

アイルランドの伝統的なクリスマスディナーは、前菜にスモークサーモンのソーダブレッド、メインディッシュにターキー、スタッフィング、ハム、ローストポテト、ニンジン、芽キャベツ、クランベリーソース、そしてデザートにミンスパイとクリスマスプディングです。

私は幼い頃、レーズンが嫌いだったので、クリスマスプディングは食べず、代わりにチョコレートの詰め合わせを食べていました。４１歳になった今も、私の両親は私の好きなチョコレートの詰め合わせを送ってくれます。
