みなさんが元気で、学校の夏休みの始まりを楽しみにしていますか。アラン・モリスです

It’s been an especially wet week; it’s been raining cats and dogs! (Of course, not literally.) This is a common English idiom used to describe very heavy rain. While writing this blog post, I looked into the origin of the phrase, and unfortunately, the story behind it isn’t as cheerful as I had hoped!

とても雨の多い一週間でしたね。まさに「土砂降り（raining cats and dogs）」でした！（もちろん文字通りではありません。）このフレーズは非常に強い雨を表す英語の慣用句です。このブログを書いている間に、その起源について調べてみましたが、残念ながら、その由来は期待していたほど明るいものではありませんでした。

Thankfully, it looks like the bad weather has finally passed, and things are starting to warm up again, just in time for the holidays.

幸運にも悪天候はようやく過ぎ去ったようで、ちょうど休暇に間に合うタイミングで、また熱くなり始めています
