Hello everyone,

It’s officially here! The rainy season has kicked off in Japan, but it hasn’t been too bad so far. Yesterday was mostly dry and very hot. But it wasn’t as hot as Europe, which reached some record temperatures last weekend. In some parts of France and Spain it was over 40 degrees! If it’s that hot in June, I wonder what the rest of summer is going to be like? My parents told me that this heatwave spread over all of Europe except for Ireland, which only got up to 18 degrees. A few years ago I took a short trip to Ireland during obon week in August. I remember how nice and cool the weather was compared to Japan. My friends in Ireland thought it was very hot when it was 20 degrees. I thought that was cool, and said if they want to experience a real hot day to visit Japan. It’s all relative. A hot day in Ireland is cool in Japan.

I’ve bought a new car, a mini cooper. It’s getting prepared and I’ll be able to drive it from this weekend. I’m looking forward to driving a new-ish car. The car I’m driving recently is a toyota, and it still runs very well after many years and 150,000km. Toyota is famous all over the world for reliability, and they are the best selling cars in Ireland. My parents, brother, and many friends all have Toyotas. They hardly ever need to be replaced or repaired. I’m hoping my new mini has some of the famous “German reliability” their cars are famous for.

みなさん、こんにちは。

ついに本州にも梅雨入りしましたが、今までのところそんなに雨は多くありません。

昨日は乾燥して暑かったです。暑くてもヨーロッパほどではありません。

先週は記録的な暑さだったようで、フランスやスペインでは４０度を超えました。

６月はこんなに暑かったか？残りの夏はどのようになるのでしょうか。

私の両親は、アイルランドを除いたヨーロッパ中で熱波が広がっていると言ってました。数年前、お盆の時期にアイルランドに一時帰国しました。その時は、日本に比べると非常に過ごしやすい気候でした。アイルランドの友人たちは、２０度を超えると暑さを感じます。

ところで私はミニクーパーを買いました。今週末に納車の予定で、自分自身の初めての車を運転するのを楽しみにしています。最近までは義理の両親が所有しているトヨタ車を運転していました。１５万キロも走っていますが、まだ走ります。トヨタ車は世界の有名ブランドで、それはアイルランドでも同じです。私の両親、弟、友人のすべてがトヨタ車にのっています。トヨタ車は故障がすくないです。私の新車、ミニクーパーもトヨタ車と同じように「ドイツの信頼性」を持った車であると願っています。
