Hello everyone,
It’s July already, and the rainy season will be over soon. This week it looks like Ireland has its own rainy season, with rain forecast for the next 8 days at least! We will know when summer really begins in Japan when we hear the loud chirping of cicadas. I can’t hear them yet, so it must still be the rainy season.
This week in Ireland, the summer holidays begin. School summer vacation is two months long for elementary school, and even longer for secondary school (junior high and high school). Irish students have holidays for July and August, with no homework! When I mention this to our students, they are very envious. I hear a lot of “ii na”! In Japan, they only have one month in August, and that comes with homework too. I think Japanese students are busy during their vacations with homework and club activities. I didn’t have any of those during my holidays in Ireland. However, I think it’s good to keep a routine of activities and studying. It’s very easy to become lazy if you don’t have any responsibilities during time off school. So happy summer vacation to the students in Ireland. Sorry, Japanese students, you will have to wait one more month! The countdown to summer begins!

もう7月に入り、もうすぐ梅雨も明けますね。
今週、アイルランドは独自の雨季
を迎えたようで、少なくとも今後 8 日間は雨が降ると予想されています。
日本の夏が本格的に始まるのは、セミの鳴き声が聞こえてくるときです。
まだ聞こえないので、まだ梅雨の時期なのでしょう。
アイルランドでは今週から夏休み
が始まります。
学校の夏休みは、小学校では2か月、中等教育（中学校、高校）ではさらに長くなります。
アイルランドの学生は 7 月と 8 月に休暇があり、宿題はありません。
このことを生徒たちに話すと、彼らはとても羨ましがります。
「いいな」がたくさん聞こえます！
日本では8月は1ヶ月しかなく、宿題も出てきます。 日本の学生は休暇中、宿題やクラブ活動で忙しいと思います。
私が学生の時でもアイルランドでの休暇中何もすることがありませんでした。
しかし、活動や勉強のルーティンを保つことは良いことだと思います。
学校を休んでいる間に何も責任がないと、怠け者になってしまいがちです。
アイルランドの学生の皆さん、楽しい夏休みを過ごしてください。
日本の学生の皆さん、申し訳ありませんが、あと1か月待ってください。
