April is here! One of my favorite months. The weather is warming up and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom now. I went to Hiromi park yesterday and they were breath-taking. It was a little windy, which caused the petals to rain down on us. I saw people having picnics under the trees. This is famously known as “hanami”, which translates into “flower viewing”. Every year, people all over Japan have picnics in parks under the cherry blossom trees. This practice dates back to the Nara period in 710, so it’s 1,300 years old! When the covid pandemic began, many cherry blossom events and festivals were cancelled. But now, they are beginning to come back and people are enjoying the start of the spring in the parks. Another great thing about April is coming next Sunday. On April 9th it’s Easter! That means everyone eats as much chocolate eggs as they can. In Ireland, you buy an easter egg based on whichever chocolate bar you like. You choose a type, and you get one egg and two bars with it. It’s a great day to be a chocaholic. It hasn’t really caught on in Japan. I think “white day” is the reason for this. On white day people are giving chocolate just a month after Valentine’s Day. I think that people in Japan are tired of chocolate by now. It’s quite hard to find easter eggs here, but I saw some in international food stores such as Kaldi. You can also find chocolate in the shape of the easter bunny. The easter bunny is basically the Santa Claus of Easter. This character brings chocolate eggs to kids all over the world. So if you’re a chocolate fan, remember to eat as much as you can next Sunday. Maybe in the future we will combine hanami with easter, and eat chocolate eggs under the cherry blossom trees. Now there’s an idea!

みなさん、こんにちは

私が大好きな月の一つである4月がやって参りました

季節も春に移り変わろうと準備をしているみたいで、桜も満開の綺麗な花を咲かせていますね

 

先日は広見公園に行ったのですが、とても綺麗な景色でした少し風がありましたので、花びらが散って落ちてきました。

桜の下では人々がピクニックをしていました。

 

毎年、全国の桜の木の下で人々がお花見をしていますね🌸

この習慣は710年、奈良時代までさかのぼることになるんです

 

1300年も昔から行われているなんて素敵ですよね

 

コロナによってたくさんのお花見ピクニックやイベントが延期になってしまっておりましたね

 

やっと今年から復活するところも多い事と思いますので、春の楽しみが帰ってきたみたいです

 

そしてもう一つの春の楽しみが来週の日曜日に来ます

4月9日は”イースター🥚🥚”です！！つまり食べられるだけのチョコレートエッグを食べるという日ですね

 

アイルランドでは、好きなチョコレートのイースターエッグを買います。

チョコを病気になるくらい食べれるなんてチョコ好きにとっては最高の日ですよね！！

 

ところが、このイースターという文化は日本ではまだそこまで浸透していないように思われます

きっとホワイトデーが近いからですかね？？バレンタインが2月でホワイトデーが3月ですもんね。。

 

チョコには飽き飽きしてしまっている人もいるってことですね。。

 

そして日本では、カルディーのような色々な国の食料が売っているお店などでは見かける以外には、

イースターエッグを見つけるのが難しかったりもします。。

 

なかには、イースターバニーの形をしたチョコレートもあったりします。

イースターバニーとは、イースターの日のサンタさんのような存在になります。

 

このキャラクターが世界中の子供たちに卵をもっていってくれるんですよ

 

ということで来週の日曜日は、みなさま、覚えていたらたくさんチョコを食べてくださいね

 

多分将来には、イースターと花見を一緒にして桜の木の下でチョコレートエッグを食べる！

なんて日が来るかもしれませんね
