Eiken tests are on the way!

Hello everyone,

The Eiken tests take place this weekend. Our students have been studying hard in preparation for this. They have been taking advantage of our extra weekday and weekend preparation lessons. Although the tests are named from Grade 5 to 1, there are actually 7 grades. To close the large level gaps in the higher grades they introduced the pre-2 and pre-1 grades. Our students feel a great sense of accomplishment to gain another step in the eiken ranks. In class recently, I asked students if they collect anything. One student replied, “I collect Eiken certificates.” They are her most prized possessions! While it’s very rare, it is possible to attain all 7 eiken levels. A student here at Hario has achieved all of the grades up to 1st. However, the 1st grade is extremely advanced, some words in the vocabulary in that test are so rare that native speakers almost never come across them. I think real fluency in English is achieved between Eiken 2nd and pre-1st. Anyone who gets this far can feel confident about going out and using English in the real world. They have the freedom to travel abroad without worrying about language barriers. They are studying hard to achieve freedom of communication that will benefit them wherever they go. How many certificates will our students collect in the future. Only time will tell…Good luck everyone!

今週末に英検の試験が行われます。生徒の皆さんは、この試験に向けて一生懸命勉強しており、平日と週末の追加対策レッスンを活用しています。試験は5級から1級までと名付けられていますが、実際には7級が存在し、上級の大きなレベルギャップを埋めるために準2級と準1級が導入されました。生徒の皆さんは、英検のランクを1つ上げるごとに大きな達成感を感じています

最近、授業で生徒たちに何か集めているものがあるか尋ねたところ、ある生徒は「英検の証明書を集めています」と答えました。それは彼女にとって最も大切な宝物です。非常にまれなことですが、英検の全7級を取得することは可能です。HARIOでは、かつて1人だけ生徒が1級を合格しました。ただし、1級は非常に高度で、そのテストに含まれる語彙の一部はネイティブスピーカーでもほとんど遭遇することがありません。
