I hope everyone is doing well!

This week I’m feeling especially happy because my football team won a very big match. Back home, there are a few local teams, but ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been a supporter of Grimsby Town. Last night, they faced one of the biggest clubs in England, Manchester United!

今週は特にうれしい気分です。というのも、私の応援しているサッカーチームがとても大きな試合に勝ったからです。地元にはいくつかのクラブチームがありますが、10代の頃からずっとグリムズビー・タウンを応援しています。昨夜、そのグリムズビー・タウンがイングランドでも有名なクラブ、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドと対戦したんです！⚽

Grimsby currently play in EFL League 2 (the 4th division of English football), while Manchester United are in the Premier League, which is the top division and one of the most expensive leagues in the world. So when I sat down to watch, I of course supported my team, but I also knew the reality I was likely going to be a little disappointed. Still, I was happy just to see the familiar football grounds again and excited to watch my team, something I don’t often get to do here in Japan.

グリムズビーは現在、イングランドの4部リーグにあたるEFLリーグ2でプレーしています。一方、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドはトップリーグであるプレミアリーグに所属しており、世界でも最も資金力のあるリーグのひとつです。

だから試合を観るときはもちろん自分のチームを応援していましたが、正直なところ、あまり期待はしていませんでした。それでも、久しぶりに見慣れたスタジアムを目にできたことや、自分のチームの試合を観られたことが嬉しくて、日本ではなかなかできない体験にワクワクしていました。🌿⚽

But I was very wrong! Grimsby played brilliantly. The match ended 2–2, then went to penalties. After what felt like a never-ending shootout, Grimsby finally won 12-11 on penalties, and they’re now through to the next round of the cup! A huge congratulations to the team, it was such an amazing result.

でも、私の予想は大きく外れましたグリムズビーは素晴らしいプレーを見せてくれました。試合は2対2で終了し、PK戦へ突入。終わりが見えないような長い戦いの末、グリムズビーが12対11で勝利し、見事に次のラウンドへ進出しましたチームには心からおめでとうを伝えたいです。本当に感動的な結果でした
