Hello, 

Every year on the 16th of July, there is a festival in Shimizu City where people can view lanterns floating down Yodo River, as well as watch fireworks and try some delicious festival food. The festival is over 250 years old and the lanterns represent the wishes and prayers of the people who take part in the festival. Some people wish for their families safety, good health, good grades and some people light their lantern to pay respect to their ancestors                                      

The festival is popular with all ages as there are many things for people to do and see. This year is extra special as it is the first Lantern festival of the Reiwa era and this year the firework display will be the same fireworks that appeared in the movie Chibi Maruko-chan.

毎年７月１６日は、清水市でお祭りがあります。清水巴川灯篭まつりというもので、巴川をたくさんの灯篭が流れる光景をみることができます。灯篭流し以外にも、花火やおいしい屋台ももちろんあります。このお祭りは250年もの間続いており、灯篭に家内安全、無病息災、学業成就、先祖への祈りなどをこめます。今年は令和元年を記念して、ちびまるこちゃんの映画に登場した打ち上げ花火が実施されたそうです。
