An Amazing Speech Contest!　すばらしいスピーチコンテスト！

Hello everyone,

Hario’s 2018 Speech Contest took place last Saturday and it was a great success! All of our students and their families looked like they had a great time. We put a lot of planning into this contest so it all ran smoothly and on time. The speeches seem to get better in quality every year, and this year was no exception. Our student’s pronunciation and expression was some of the best I’ve ever seen. They put so much effort into perfecting their performance, it really impressed the audience. Our final category of veterans, or legends as we called them, was of such high quality that the judges had a hard time choosing a winner. To be honest, we wanted to give awards to every student for putting on such a good show. But of course, there can only be a few winners, and I really enjoyed seeing their face light up when we called their names. Our 10th rank activity also went well. The students sang their hearts out on stage! I was really impressed with how loudly they sang both songs in English. Country Roads is a favorite with many people in Japan and became popular when it was used in an animation. The lyrics are difficult to learn, even for English speakers, and our students sang it loud and clear. They also took time to prepare two different costumes. They arrived in Star Wars costumes for our first skit, and then changed to their Halloween costumes for the songs. Thanks to the students and their parents for helping so much with the show.

Also big thanks to our three judges, Deloy, Maia and Kevin. The students, parents and staff were so happy to see Kevin again. He drive all the way from Omachi, Nagano to see us. It was great to catch up with him.

I think the reason behind the success of the speeches is positive motivation for the students to achieve something great. They work hard so that the end result is something that will impress people from all over the world. Well done to all of the students who did the speech homework at Hario. Thanks to all of the parents and families for supporting your children. See you next year!

みなさんこんにちは、アランです。

HARIOの２０１８年スピーチコンテストが土曜日に行われ、大成功に終わりました

生徒の皆さんやそのご家族はすばらしい時間を過ごされたようでした。このコンテストのために、私たちはいろいろと計画を立てましたので、全てスムーズに時間通りに行うことができました。スピーチのクオリティは毎年良くなっており、今年も例外ではありませんでした。生徒たちの発音や表現はこれまでで最高のものであったかもしれません。彼らは自分の発表を完成させるためたくさん努力しました。それが本当に観客を感動させました。最後の部のベテランやレジェンドの部はとてもクオリティの高い発表でしたので審査員たちは優勝者を選ぶのに苦労しました。しかしもちろん優勝出来る人はごくわずかに限られます。わたしは本当に名前を呼ばれ、ライトアップされた彼等の表情を見るのがうれしかったです。10級のアクティビティもうまくいきました。生徒たちは心を込めてステージ上で歌いました英語でどちらの曲もあんなに大きな声で歌ってくれて驚きましたカントリーロードは日本の大勢の人が好きな曲であり、アニメで使われたことで有名になりました。歌詞は覚えるのは英語話者でさえ難しいのですが、生徒たちはそれを大きな声ではっきりと歌いました

また、彼らは二つの違った衣装を準備する時間がありました。最初の劇のためにスターウォーズの格好をして来て、それから歌のためにハロウィンの仮装に着替えました。生徒たちとその保護者の方々、発表のお手伝いをたくさんしてくださりありがとうございました

また、審査員のみなさんにも厚く御礼申し上げます。デロイさん、マイアさん、そしてケビン先生。生徒たち、保護者の皆様、そしてスタッフもケビン先生にまた会うことができてうれしかったです。彼ははるばる長野県の大町から会いに来てくれました彼との再会は素晴らしいものでした。私は、スピーチの成功の秘訣は生徒たちの、なにかすごいことを成し遂げようとする前向きなモチベーションだと思います。彼らは世界中の人を感動させるようなものに最終的にするため、一生懸命練習をしました。HARIOでスピーチホームワークを行ったすべての生徒さん、よくがんばりました
