Hello everyone.

As you may have already read in this month’s newsletter, this week was my final week at HARIO. It has been quite short, but the students here are the best I’ve ever taught in over three years of teaching, and it is so hard to say goodbye! But, as a great man once said:

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard”

I want to give my heartfelt thanks to all of the students for always coming into class with a smile, and proactively participating in all of the activities, even the more difficult ones. It is an amazing feeling to see an excited group of students come into my classroom and one that will be sorely missed. I am astounded at just how much about communication with people from another culture I have learned from all of the students, their families, and guardians, and I hope that your side of that experience was as positive and meaningful as it has been for me. Moving forward, I hope we can all learn more about the world and other cultures around us, using our study of languages as a tool that makes it easier to do so.

In our future careers, and personal relationships, I hope that the time that I have spent at HＡRIO has had as positive an impact on each and every one of your lives as it has had on my own life.

As any HARIO student knows, there are some phrases in English and Japanese that do not translate well between the languages. The Japanese language has a particularly suitable phrase to sum up my feelings for the HARIO community, but I feel that the English approximation does the job too in this case: “I truly appreciate all that you’ve done for me.” I mean that from the bottom of my heart; HARIO has been such a positive experience for me and I hope that through my time here, I have been able to return that kindness and positive energy that everyone here has shared with me. “大変お世話になりました,” everyone. I’ll miss you all!

みなさんこんにちは

みなさん既に今月のニュースレターをお読みになっているかもしれませんが、今週が私のHARIOで過ごす最後の週でした。

とても短い間でしたが、ここの生徒たちは私がこれまで3年間日本で教えてきた中で一番素晴らしい生徒たちでした

そのためさよならを言うのはとても辛いですしかしある偉人が言いました。

 

「さよならを言うことが辛いような何かに出会えた私は、なんて幸運なのでしょう。」

生徒の皆さんには、いつも笑顔でどのアクティビティも難しい問題にさえも積極的に参加してくださり、心らの感謝の気持ちを伝えたいです。

元気いっぱいの生徒たちがクラスにやって来るのを見るのは素晴らしい気持ちです

きっとひどくそのことが恋しくなるでしょう。

生徒の皆さん、ご家族の皆さん、そして保護者の皆さんから私が学んできた異文化コミュニケーションの多さに驚かされます

皆さんにとってのそれらの経験も私と同じように前向きで有意義なものであったらと思います。

さて、私達みんながもっと世界、他の文化について学ぶことが出来たらと願います

そして言語学習をその手助けをする手段として使ってくれたらと思います。

 

将来仕事や、個人の人間関係においてＨＡＲＩＯで過ごした時間が、私の人生においてそうであったように、皆さんそれぞれにとっても良い影響を与えていたらと思います。

心からそう思います。

ＨＡＲＩＯは私にとってとても良い経験になりました。

そしてここで過ごす時間を通して、私にみなさんが分けてくれたその親切さや前向きなエネルギーを返せていたら良いのですが。
