Hello everyone!

Like most people, I have been following this year’s World Cup of Soccer and cheering on team Japan! It has been great to see them doing so well. Unfortunately Canada is quite at a high level in international soccer so when the World Cup comes along I can follow without feeling too nervous!

Many students at Hario have talked to me about how excited they are watching the Word Cup, even though the games are on very late in Japan. Luckily for us at Hario, we work in the afternoons and evenings so we can stay up to watch the games. We were even able to all watch Japan against Poland together while on a short holiday in Hokkaido! Mrs. Harimoto even wore a Samurai Blue shirt to cheer Japan on!

This year my pick was for Belgium to win the World Cup and they are doing very well, though unfortunately they beat Japan in a great game. I was very proud to see how well Japan played against one of the favourites to win the whole tournament! Hopefully we will get to see more games with that level of intensity and excitement.

Maybe one day Canada will qualify for the World Cup again. The last time they did was over 30 years ago in 1986 and they failed to win a game. But that’s ok, us Canadians get to see our country do well at ice hockey instead.

みなさんと同じように私もサッカーワールドカップを見て、日本を応援し続けています

彼らがすばらしい活躍をしているのをみて嬉しく思います。

沢山のＨＡＲＩＯの生徒たちがワールドカップをどれほどわくわくして観ているか話してくれました

遅い時間の試合であっても、生徒達は観戦していたようです。

ＨＡＲＩＯにいるわたしたちは幸いなことに、働くのは午後からなので遅くまで起きて試合を観ることができます。

先週は北海道での短い休暇の間に、日本対ポーランド戦を観戦することができました！

播本先生は日本を応援する為にサムライブルーＴシャツも着ていました。

 

今年私はベルギーがワールドカップで優勝すると予想しえいます。彼らは素晴らしい試合で日本を打ち負かしました。

いまのところ、とても順調です。日本が大会優勝候補の私のお気に入りチームの中の一つと対戦し大変健闘したのを観てとても誇らしく思いました。あれくらいのレベルの激しく興奮する試合を今後もっと見られたらと思います。

 

おそらくいつかカナダはワールドカップに再び出場する資格を得るでしょう。最後に出場したのは３０年前の１９８６年、彼らは試合に負けてしまいました。でもいいんです。私達カナダ人は代わりにアイスホッケーでカナダの活躍を見られます。
