It’s Hanami time! 　花見シーズン到来！

Hello everyone,

It’s spring vacation time for our students, so they are taking the opportunity to take our spring lessons here at Hario. We have grammar classes in the mornings and students can also have a private 1-to-1 conversation class. It’s a great chance to build your English in preparation for the new academic year. Many of our students are going to become elementary, junior high, or high school students in the coming weeks. They are understandably nervous and excited about starting at a new school. They are busy preparing for their new school life. Good luck to all of our students in their new school year, and well done on getting accepted to the school you wanted.

Now that it’s the end of March, we have Hanami to look forward to. You can already see the cherry blossom trees blooming around Fuji. I went to the park last Sunday to check out the trees beginning to blossom. They weren’t fully out yet, should be this weekend. I’m hoping for good weather so that we can properly celebrate the Hanami culture. “Hanami” literally translates as “look at flowers”, and is the tradition of admiring the cherry blossoms by having a picnic under them. It is over 1,000 years old and goes back to the Nara period. Back then people celebrated the earlier “ume” trees, but that changed to cherry blossoms in the Heian period. People believed that Gods lived inside the trees and made offerings to them. If you go to any park in Shizuoka this weekend, you will find many families sitting on a blue mat under a cherry blossom enjoying picnics and drinking sake. I went to a Hanami festival at our local park last year but because of unusually cold weather the trees hadn’t blossomed yet, so everyone had a picnic under bare brown trees! I’m hoping for a prettier scenario this year. I hope you enjoy Hanami this year and have a great spring.

みなさんこんにちは。

生徒の皆さんは春休みの時期ですね。そのためみなさんハリオの春期講習をとってくれています。

朝の文法のクラスと、プライベートの1対1でできる英会話のクラスをとることができます。

新学期に向けて英語の準備をするとても良い機会です。多くの生徒さんはもう数週間で小学生、中学生、高校生になりますね。

みなさんもちろんですが新しい学校に緊張していたり、ワクワクしています。

新しい学校に向けて忙しいですね。新しい学校生活がんばってくださいそして志望校に入る為に良く頑張りました

3月も末になり、お楽しみの花見がありますね。富士山の周りにも桜の花が咲き始めています。

私は土曜日に桜の咲き具合を見に公園へ行きました。まだ満開ではありませんでしたが、今週末には満開になるはずです。

花見文化をきちんとと楽しむためにも良い天気であってほしいです。

「花見」は文字通り「花を見る」と訳され、「花見」は桜の木の下でピクニックをすることで、桜を愛でる文化です。

それは１０００年もの歴史があり、奈良時代にさかのぼります。その頃は人々はもう少し早い時期に梅の木を愛でていましたが、平安時代には桜の木に変わりました。

人々は樹の中に神様が宿っていると信じ、桜の木にお祈りをしました。

もし皆さんが今週静岡県内のどこかの公園に行ったら、きっと桜の木の下でブルーシートに座りながらお花見やお酒を楽しんでいる家族たちを見掛ける事でしょう私は昨年、地域の公園での花見まつりに行きましたが、例年になく寒い天気で桜の木はまだ咲いていませんでしたなので花の付いていない、ただの茶色い木の下でお花見をしました！今年はもっと良い展開であってほしいです。
