Hello everyone!

I hope you all enjoyed your recent school trips all around Japan! Thank you to all those who brought back some great souvenirs for HARIO, we always enjoy those. Where did your school go?

This year will be the first year I will get to watch something very famous and excititng in Japan, the Koshien tournament! The Koshien is possibly the most emotional and intense sporting event in Japan. Over 4000 teams participate from all over the country. This year I’m very excited to watch games being played in Fuji! Many of our students will travel on the weekends to support their school’s team.

Will a team from Shizuoka win the tournament this year? I hope so! While the Summer Koshien is very hot, the fans still make a lot of noise and cheer for their teams. There is nothing at all similar in the West. So much pressure on such young players! College Football and Basketball is extremely popular in the United States, but those players are usually in their early 20s. It takes a lot of determination and courage to play in front of big crowds.

みなさん、こんにちは。皆さん、修学旅行や遠足は楽しめましたか。

ここ数週間、ハリオ生から旅行のお土産をもらっています。ありがとうございました。ごちろうさまでした。

皆さんは修学旅行でどこに行きましたか。

今年は、日本では有名で興奮するイベントを私も観戦する予定です。それは、高校野球（夏の甲子園）です。高校野球は、一番感動的で、興奮するスポーツだと思います。全国から４０００校を超えるチームが戦います。今年は富士で行われる予選試合をみに行くのを楽しみにしています。週末には、母校を応援するために生徒達や応援団も遠出します。

今年は静岡のチームが勝つことを願っています。高校野球の夏はとても暑く、そんな中でもファンや応援団は大きな声援をあげています。これは、西洋にはない文化です。まだ高校生なのに大きなプレッシャーがあります。アメリカでは、大学野球やバスケットが人気がありますが、彼らはそれでも２０代です。大勢の観客の前でのプレーは、大きな決断と勇気が必要となるでしょう。

高校野球に出場するみなさん、がんばってください！
