Hello everyone!

As most all of my students know my favorite sport is baseball! If you see me in Spring to Autumn you know what will be on my mind. This year I am hoping to see at least 5 or 6 games in person and so far so good!

Recently in Shizuoka city there was a week of exhibition baseball which saw the Rakuten Eagles play 2 games each against the Yokohama Baystars, the Hanshin Tigers (my favourite team) and the defending champions, the Hiroshima Carp. Unfortunately I wasn’t available to see a game with the Tigers but I was able to watch the Eagles take on the Carp!

Even though the Shizuoka stadium is small compared to the larger NPB stadiums, it was loud and full of passionate fans of their team. We sat close to the outfield so that we could get the best look at not only the players but also all the fans wearing their teams colours, singing, cheering and having fun with the mascots. It was a great atmosphere and I couldn’t help but cheer on the Eagles who held on to beat the Carp in a nail-biting 5-4 final.

Also today marks the beginning of the Major League Baseball season so baseball has taken over my thoughts this week. What are your hobbies and passions? Is there something you really look forward to every year?

みなさんこんにちは！

ほとんどの生徒さんが知っているかと思いますが、私の好きなスポーツは野球です

春から夏の間、私に会ったら、きっとみなさんは私が何を考えているかおわかりでしょう

今年最低５つ～６つの試合を生で見たいと思っており、今のところとても順調です！

最近静岡市で楽天イーグルスが横浜ベイスターズ、阪神タイガース(私のお気に入りのチーム)そしてディフェンディングチャンピオンである広島カープとそれぞれ２試合行った野球のオープン戦が１週間ありました

残念ながらわたしは阪神戦は見られませんでしたが、イーグルスがカープに勝つところは見ることができました

静岡スタジアムはもっと大きいNPBスタジアムに比べると小さいものの、

賑やかで各チームの熱狂的なファンであふれかえっていました。

わたしたちはグラウンドに近い方に座ったので、選手たちはもちろん、マスコットとともにチームカラーを身に着け、歌い、応援し、楽しんでいる全てのファンの様子がよく見えました素晴らしい空間でした。そしてカープをぎりぎりの5対4で抑え込むイーグルスを助けられなくとも応援しました！

また、今日からＭＬＢ(メジャーリーグベースボール)シーズンの開幕です。そのため私は今週そのことで頭がいっぱいです。
