Hello everyone,

Last week was a scorcher! It was quite sunny too, which is unusual for the rainy season. But it looks like things will cool down a bit this week, it’s only 27 degrees today, and rainy. There are only a few more weeks until the height of summer, which is around the beginning of August, when it’s very hot all the time. I think we got a good preview of that last week. In other news, last week we finally got our new car. Surprisingly, even though we are in Japan, the number one car country, we didn’t get a Japanese car. We decided to get a mini cooper, which is part British, part German. Mini began in the U.K. in 1959, but it was sold to BMW in 2000, so now it is owned by a German company. They still like to show its British roots on the cars here. That’s why you can see Union Jacks all over the minis, especially here in Japan, where the U.K.’s flag is fashionable. I’ve been enjoying driving it around last week.

Here at Hario, our students just need to hold on a little longer before they can gett their speech homework. I noticed quite a few of our students are concerned about the war in Ukraine. Several speeches talk about the war and how children long for a peaceful future. It shows that children take notice of what we see on the news. I hope they get their wish for peace as soon as possible.

先週は猛暑でした。例年ならば雨季ですが、非常に天気もよかったです。

今週は少し涼しいように思います。今日はたったの２７度で雨も降ってます。

夏真っ只中の８月まではあと数週間しかありません。

私ごとのニュースとしては、ようやく新車が届いたことです。驚くことに、日本にいながらにして、我々は日本車を買わずに、ミニクーパーというイギリスとドイツ車を購入しました。ミニクーパーはイギリスで1959年に誕生した会社ですが、2000年にBMWに買収されました。ということで今は、ドイツ車になります。でもミニクーパーには、イギリスの旗がデザインされています。来たばかりのミニクーパーの運転を私は楽しんでします。
