School’s out for spring vacation!

Hello everyone,

It’s been yet another wet and rainy week! I’ve been waiting for the nice spring weather to arrive. Where is it? Hopefully we don’t have much longer to wait.

We finished Saint Patrick’s week on Monday the 17th, which was St. Paddy’s day. It was an amazing week, thanks to all of our students for wearing green! We got some great photos.

School’s out! Today, Wednesday the 19th, was the last day of school for most of our students. I saw that they had a half day today, so they can already start enjoying the spring vacation. Many of our students will be starting at new schools at all levels: kindergarten, elementary school, junior high and high school. It’s a nerve-wracking experience to go to a new school for the first time. I’m sure our students will get used to it and settle in quickly. But before beginning the new grade, they can enjoy the vacation. I’ve been asking our students how they will spend the holiday. Disneyland or sea is quite popular at this time. With so many people taking advantage of the spring vacation to go, it must get extremely busy. Other popular answers were tourist spots such as Kyoto or Nagano. The most popular answer was to stay here in Fuji and relax after such a busy year. Also, just because it’s spring vacation, it doesn’t mean they have nothing to do. They all have spring homework to finish before going back to school. It prevents students from losing their daily habit of doing homework. In Ireland, we didn’t have any homework over the holidays. That meant it was difficult to begin doing it again every day. How much vacation homework should students have?

またしても雨が降り続く1週間でしたね！春らしい良い天気が来るのを待っているのですが、一体どこにいるのでしょうか？もう少し待てば訪れてくれると良いですね

さて、3月17日月曜日にセント・パトリックスウィークが終わりました。この日はセント・パディーズ・デイでもありました。皆さんが緑色の服を着てくれたおかげで素晴らしい1週間になりました！素敵な写真もたくさん撮れました

そして学校が終了しました！今日、3月19日水曜日は、ほとんどの学生にとって学校の最終日でした。今日は半日だけの授業だったようなので、早速春休みを楽しむことができるでしょう。多くの学生が新しい学校へ進学しますが、幼稚園、小学校、中学校、高校といった様々な段階があります。初めて新しい学校に通うというのは緊張する経験ですが、きっとすぐに慣れて落ち着いてくれることでしょう。しかし、新しい学年が始まる前に、彼らは春休みを満喫することができます。

この休暇をどう過ごすのか、生徒たちに聞いてみました。この時期はディズニーランドやシーが非常に人気のようです。春休みを利用して訪れる人が多く、とても混雑しそうです。他にも、京都や長野といった観光地が人気でした。一番多かった答えは、ここ富士市でのんびりするというものでした。忙しい1年を過ごした後で、リラックスする時間を持つのは素晴らしいことですね。

ただし、春休みだからといって、やることが全くないわけではありません。学校に戻るまでに終わらせるべき春休みの宿題があります。これは、毎日の宿題をする習慣を失わないようにするためのものです。アイルランドでは、休暇中に宿題がありませんでした。そのため、毎日宿題をする習慣を再開するのが難しかったです。休暇中の宿題は、どれくらいが適切なのでしょうか
